Im sure there is already a thread with this topic but im too lazy to find so,,,,,
Just curious on what everyones first car was.
Mine was a 1978 AMC Concord for $250 with a 3.8 232 inline 6, not sure on the mileage cuz it only went up to 99,999 then rolled back over to 0 but when i got it was at 75,***. When I bought the passenger door didn't open from the outside and when I got rid of the the only door that opened from the outside was the driver side back door lol. It was the slowest car ive ever drove 0-60 22 second top speed was around 90 and man did it shake a lot when it was going that fast. Paint was a ugly blue with gray squares on the driver and passenger door. But it ran just fine and at 16 I was just happy to have a car and a license. Oh and by the way the chicks for some reason thought it was cute and cool. haha

1995 Buick Roadmaster Limited Sedan, 350LT1, 2.93 positraction rear end, it was fast, and kind of fun :)

1984 Ford LTD which I still drive in the Winter. Its a stubborn car that refuses to work properly and is inferior to my Caddy in every way (except mileage maybe) but I have to say, for the 10,000 miles or so I've driven it, its been quite reliable. It only "broke down" once and it was in my driveway ;)

88 Nissan Sentra. The heat worked well! Plowed through all terrain: snow, slush, torrential rain, sand, and mud. It was slow, so I had to drive it hard to go anywhere, which made it remotely fun to drive.

Hello
My first car i bought one and a half year before i could get my licence and the reason was that it needed some work, and it was kind of fun to start with fixing up the first car, learned a lot.
The car was a Opel Manta A -71 with a 1,9 liter inline 4cyl 90 hp
3 speed aut. the car only weighed 1030 kg so it was kind of sporty even if it had only 90 hp and automatic transmission. Ever since that first car i decided that i'm never gonna have a daily driver with anything but a auto transmission: one of the best invention in the world.
Here in sweden is it so that when you buy a new car with auto trans you have to pay much extra for that, and when you sell it you get less for the car because of the auto trans. but for me that only buy used cars that kind of good. besides that it is't so many cars to choose from.
Here's some pic's that shows how the Manta looks like, not of the car i had but the same model.

I remember those!

Yeah, most of Europe are the same for auto trans.

Althought he poles reverse, when you get up to bigger cars, 7 series BMW with an a manual is MUCH cheaper.

I prefer a manual myself. But i also like luxury cars, and they dont mix

What are the most luxuryus car you have had that was manual?

I work as a truckdriver sometimes and there i got to use the gearstick all i want, then you really miss the auto!
By the way, i have a good tip to feel twice the power in your dailydriver.
I worked for a truck owner with driving a timber truck between a harbor and a papermill. The load weighed app. 40 tons and total weight about 60 tons and the truck was either a Scania 143 or a Volvo F12.
Anyway in the mornings i parked the car, at the time a Opel Senator -79 3,0 liter inline 6 cyl 180 hp, by the truckowners truckgarage and went and drove the truck for about 10 hours a day then back to the garage and head on home with the car. Ooooh booooy one could think that the mechanics at the garage had installed a turbo or NOS in my car while i had been away, it felt that way when one had drove a 60 ton ekipage for the hole day and then sat in your 's, that you thought, slow car but compared with the truck your car was a dragracing car.

A pic of a Opel Senator to.

1966 Mustang....289, 3spd Cruisomatic. Did some engine, and suspension work and kept it for abotu 4 years. Then I needed money to fix some problems on the STS, and had to sell it. I still regret selling that car.....oh well. Easy come...easy go.

I had an 1985 Vauxhall Carlton, the Opel and the Vauxhall were bigger/smaller sisters!

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c249/mccombie_5/Car%20Pictures%20-and%20other%20random%20crap%20i%20need%20to%20host/broch49-1.jpg

The most luxurious one was the Jaguar XK8 with a manual trans. Cars of this calibre are rare as a manual though, I mean, most Jaguars have the J shift auto, but i opted against it.

I like the feel of a manual shift, but as I say, its a rare feature on luxury cars.

I dont mind an automatic, but if its a fast car, I would rather have a manual, no good on a caddy, they need autos or they wouldnt be smooth, but on say, a BMW 5 series, most models only have auto.

I also had an 85 Vauxhall Cavalier, but Im not sure you had these, I think they were different in the rest of Europe...

Mine was white, without the terrible bodykit and side graphics, it was the GLS model, with velour interior.

Hello The Vauxhall Carlton was the same as the Opel Rekord if i remember correctly and that cavalier looks pretty much like a Opel Ascona. Ascona was the basecar to the Manta witch always was a 2 door coupe and later became the Calibra.
What was Vauxhalls coupe version called trough the 70:s and 80:s?
When i had my Opel Senators was i a member of a UK club that was called The Autobahn Stormers.
That club was all about Opels and Vauxhalls 6cyl inline cars.
Opel Senator = Vauxhall Royale and
Opel Monza = Vauxhall ?
and the Opel/Vauxhall Lotus Omegas.

Pics of two mid 80:s Opel Asconas.

Mine was a Mazda B2000 truck, hand me down from my dad after my sister wrecked it. Had to replace the radiator just so I could drive it. That thing was tough and I couldn't get it stuck even when I tried. My friends 4x4 S10Blazer would be stuck but never me. It ran a 20sec 1/4 mile, got 3rd at the highschool drags (bracket racing) one year. I finally killed it when the u-joints went out and my dumbass kept driving it. Ended up losing all forward gears and the rearend. So it went to the junk yard. Even with 200k the engine didn't use any oil, miss, or anything it ran perfect. I still wnt another one!

I don't have any pictures of my car, but I found this on the internet. It is an add for a '77 Delta 88.

My car was brown with a beige vinyl top.

I had a '69 Mustang fastback for a week and dumped it for a '70 'Cuda. It was my dreamcar at the time. I'll admit it was a POS. It's a good thing I had a motorcycle because the 'Cuda was brokedown A LOT. But still, when it was running, it was HOT, and I just loved the way it looked.

Yes, the AAR Cuda used a 340 Six-Pack (3x2's).
I'm not sure what the base engine was. I know Barracuda's came with 6-cylinders, 318's, 340's, 383's etc. Not sure about what engines were unique to the 'Cuda though.

My first car was a 92 mercury sable aka the "4-door grandmas grocery-getter" with a 3.8L V6. That sucker was fast though and could outrun my friends 88 Firebird Trans Am which had a V8. I got it from my grandma in 98 with 6,000 miles (yes, 6000 ACTUAL miles) and gave it to my brother with about 30,000 very well-used miles in 2001 when my dad passed down his 96 Ford Explorer to me. The explorer died this summer with about 130,000 well-cared-for miles under its belt and thats when I got the Caddy, which I LOVE!!!!!!!!!

My very first car was when I was in California for my study. I had a '77 Cadillac SDV. As I was used to the smaller cars in Europe, I was so proud to have a big US luxury car! I polished it and cleaned it. Neighbours were giving me props for taking so good care of the car. I was thinking of taking it to Holland, while others thought it was an old man's car. I got it some suiting custom license plates CHEASY, because it had a cheesy color (light tan), it was still a cheesy car being a young guy, i am from Holland (cheese country) and you could only take it easy in that car. Well, that one got crashed two weeks later and I got another '77 SDV in the same color! What are the odds?
