Chartway Federal Credit Union is running a promotion here in SE Virginia. This is the best CD I've seen, although I haven't honestly been looking that hard. It's a $10,000 minimum and a few other minor restrictions that we've already satisfied so I'm jumping in. I know, I know the stock market with outperform it, but I'm a woose when it come to investing.
Yeah, most of my money is in CD's, IRA's, 401K, I-bonds and E-bonds. Ultra-conservative, super safe stuff. I do have an adjustable rate mortgage though. Go figure. Scored a 4.25%, 7 year lock, 30 year ARM when rates were super low. I've got 5 years left. I figured when the kids are gone to college we'll be looking to down size anyway. No need for 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. Then I'll be looking for fewer bedrooms and more garages. :histeric:
I just bought a 6mo today from ING. I don't like to lock it up for too long because I prefer equity investments and want to stay pretty liquid for short notice opportunities.
Here's what ING direct is offering, no minumums though:
You know, I dont even know what is a good interest/credit rate anymore!
