Chartway Federal Credit Union is running a promotion here in SE Virginia. This is the best CD I've seen, although I haven't honestly been looking that hard. It's a $10,000 minimum and a few other minor restrictions that we've already satisfied so I'm jumping in. I know, I know the stock market with outperform it, but I'm a woose when it come to investing.

Yeah, most of my money is in CD's, IRA's, 401K, I-bonds and E-bonds. Ultra-conservative, super safe stuff. I do have an adjustable rate mortgage though. Go figure. Scored a 4.25%, 7 year lock, 30 year ARM when rates were super low. I've got 5 years left. I figured when the kids are gone to college we'll be looking to down size anyway. No need for 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. Then I'll be looking for fewer bedrooms and more garages. :histeric:

I think thats GREAT for a CD!

I just bought a 6mo today from ING. I don't like to lock it up for too long because I prefer equity investments and want to stay pretty liquid for short notice opportunities.

Here's what ING direct is offering, no minumums though:

Term APY Interest Rate Effective Date
6 Month 4.10% 4.0585% 11/19/05
9 Month 4.20% 4.1781% 11/19/05
12 Month 4.35% 4.35% 11/19/05
18 Month 4.45% 4.45% 11/19/05
24 Month 4.70% 4.70% 11/19/05
30 Month 4.75% 4.75% 11/19/05
36 Month 4.75% 4.75% 11/19/05
48 Month 4.80% 4.80% 11/19/05
60 Month 4.85% 4.85% 11/05/05
