I've searched the forum for this info with mixed results. Best guess is 6 1/2" in the front and rear, but this wasn't specific to the 2001 Cat. www.cardomain.com (http://www.cardomain.com) lists the '01 Catera as having 7" speakers in the front and rear! Can anyone confirm (for sure!!!) what the proper sizes are so I can purchase before I rip the doors apart??? Which leads me to my next question ... any "proper" procedure for getting at the speakers (i.e. door panel removal tips, methods, etc.)??

You can punch in what model and it will say weather it fits.

I'm in the process of installing a set of 6.5" components into my 97. I'm doing some fiber glass pods to get better imaging but they would have fit in the stock locations with just an MDF ring.
Just watch the mounting depth, if you go to deep than you will need to remove some metal.

Actually, Crutchfield does NOT have info. for the 2000 or 2001 Catera. I tried that resource first...

I posted this awhile back with no real answers, so I thought I'd try again. What I'm looking to do is replace the speakers in the rear doors. I'd rather not disassemble the door panels just to determine the speaker size if I can avoid it. Does anyone know the correct replacement speaker size? I've heard 6", 6 1/2" and 7"! How about the max depth?

Also, has anyone installed a powered sub in the trunk (e.g. Bazooka or Infinity)? Is it pretty easy to run the power cable all the way to the battery, or can I pick up a power source in the truck somewhere?

tlarwa...have you determined the proper speaker size? I have a 2001 Catera with the NON-Bose stereo system. I do see that the cutouts in the doors are different sizes in the front and back. Metra says 6.5" front and back. I've seen other answers. What about the amount of space allowed between the speaker and the speaker grill or door panel? Most aftermarket speakers have the little tweeter that sticks out about a 1/2" or more.
