Hello all,

2001 Deville DTS with 51K, getting about 22 MPG and thinking about having Cadillac perform a Throttle Body Service. The cost is listed at $235. Can anyone elaborate on this service, what it entails and will this remove carbon buildup as well? Is it worth the $, good to do, or not have done?

Thanks much,
Douglas

What are they going to do exactly? If they are only going to clean it for you, you can save yourself about $230 by doing it yourself.

I'm also going to move this to the Northstar section.

Hi Douglas - I live in the west Chicago burbs, so you can bring it to my house and I'll show you how to clean it yourself for a 12-pack of Heineken bottles. Please, for the sake of all that is good, don't give any money to a dealership. This is literally a 10 minute job. See my reply to your other post here for more information on why it needs to be done and how to do it yourself. It won't help your fuel mileage.

for 235 i would imagine that includes a fuel injection flush also which could improve fuel mileage. the throttle service prevents carbon buildup which can cause the throttle blade to bind.

Its worth doing. Buy a couple $1 cans of TB/carb cleaner and go for it.
