The Check Engine light came on about 2 months ago and I just now had it scanned. Here are the codes:

http://service.gm.com/gmspo/mode6/pdf/2000/2000file7.pdf

P0171

Fuel System B. 1
Fuel trim limits exceeded

P0174

Bank 2
Fuel trim limits exceeded

P0300

Multiple misfire

P0301

Misfire cylinder 1

P0302

Misfire cylinder 2

P0305

Misfire cylinder 5

The car was operating fine despite the light being on. The exception being yesterday when I turned on the car and it was misfiring badly with noticible vibration and the CE light flashing. I turned the car off the started it again and it went away.

mine comes on on almost every near-empty gas tank. So I take off like a rocket a couple times and it usually goes off. Then I refill. As for your problems :hmm:

I also am having a problem with the P0300 code. I had fuel injector cleaner put into the engine 2 times it took along with new Spark plugs and wires and the dang CEL light is still on. Still reading the same code P0300. Cadillac says multiple misfires and wants to take the engine down and clean the heads manually for 2500.00. He says valves are not going up and down properly. Is there a test they can run on the fuel injectors to see it they are bad?

no no way!! I would bet on it on your problems being the mass air flow sensor. I would suggest unplugging it then start the car back up and see if it is running better if so I would say that is your problem. for the 99 and up model it cost 187 from the dealer but for the 97-98 model it cost about 400 so you will need to shop around.

Valve not closing properly?!?!?:cookoo:

That's just plain absurd; go to a new shop, it's definitely an electircal problem and not mechanical:yup:

I had a similar problem on my '99. I was also getting a P0335 codeon top of the 171/174 and 301/306. I changed out the Crank Position Senor for about 49 for the part and then 130 or so at a local shop. You might want to start there. I didn't have the vibration, but mine did die a few times when it misfired.

When all this originally started it was with the P0171 and P0174 codes. Cadillac replaced my Catylitic Converters free. They were still under warranty I think up to 80,000 Miles:cool2: But that is when it started misfiring and chugging when I would start it up. Then the Code was P0300. I was talking to this guy over the internet and he had suggested the Mass Airflow Sensor. Now I notice that when I am in Park the engine revs all by itself from 1000rpms to 2000rpms comes down then goes right back up usually when the car is warm. I will take it in and have them test the mass airflow sensor and let you know. I hope you are right
