Can i go with 22's with the a stock truck and not have tire rub or bottom out the tire on the wheel well on bumps? I also will be pulling a boat with 500 lbs tongue weight that does lower the rear a bit. Will i have to stick to 20's?? Also, still trying to figure out what kind of back spacing i will need. thanks

This topic has been discussed before at length. I do not remember the numbers but I can tell you a few positives and negatives regarding wheel choices. A forged wheel is always a better choice- especially given the crappy brakes on obs lades. Learn the mathematics of unsprung wieght and original tire dimensions so you don't regret your choice of the heaviest 22's with the noisy tread later on.

If you have a local "rent-a-tire" shop they usually let you try on wheels and drive it around the parking lot. Thats what I would do before I commit to buying anything. Plus you get to see what it looks like on your truck :)

i know for a fact, there is noone in my area that would let me "try" some wheels. I was thinking of ebaying it for the wheels, there seems to be a couple of good deals on there. Just like the look of the 22's better than the 20's, but don't want any issues if i do go with them.

even with rear sag from tongue weight pulling ??

just trying to figure this out for sure before i go investing money on the wheels/tires. What kinda ride difference will i get from my stock 16's to 20's or 22's?

Well thats not always true. My EXT has 22's with Toyo 305/40/22 and they rub when I make a hard turn. Yet I have installed 22" with Hankook 305/40/22's on customers Escalades and have had no rubbing issues. Same size tires only different brands.

It shouldnt matter much. But again, if your suspension been modified in anyway, it could rub.

it's as stock as stock can be. I'm just worried becuase i saw a new navigator last night in a lot with 22's, and there was literally 2.5 inches between tire and wheel well. Couldn't imagine that thing hitting a bump. I know, i don't have a navigator, i'm just using it as comparison.

Navagator have air ride suspensions. They "settle down" lower themselves when you turn off the engine.

it doesn't really matter what size wheel you get, the tire size is the biggest factor.

Yes the 305-40-22 tire is the same size diameter as the stock rims with tires. I have the 305-45-22 on my truck and feel the ride is smoother and looks nicer as the larger tire fills the wheel well more. I also have no rubbing issues at all.

How wide are your rims?
