Too ricer? http://www.usspeedonline.com/page/U/PROD/AC-CTSPorts RobertCTS 11-06-05, 07:06 PM I ran this thread about a week or so ago. There was mixed feelings on the ports. Hog_cts 11-06-05, 07:19 PM Yeah thanks Robert. I just noticed that thread right after I posted this one. Smokin' 04 CTS 11-06-05, 09:01 PM I'm not a big fan of sticking things to the sides of my car that are non-fxnal. I've seen some 300C's with those and some other side vents for the rear doors and it looks a bit much. RobertCTS 11-07-05, 05:03 AM Yeah thanks Robert. I just noticed that thread right after I posted this one. We must travel similar roads in the internet:) You know Buick has brought those port back on one of their model. They do have some style to them. paulz 01-07-06, 10:54 PM I'm not a big fan of sticking things to the sides of my car that are non-fxnal. I've seen some 300C's with those and some other side vents for the rear doors and it looks a bit much. I've bought those fender ports for my 2003 dark blue CTS... horrible ! Chrome effect is poor. Can you indicate me where I can see the side vents for rear doors, or others looking more classy ? CTS V6 3.6 01-07-06, 10:57 PM yea they are pretty nasty SoCadillac 01-07-06, 11:06 PM I do not see these as part the CTS' design vocabulary. If they were they would be recessed, integrated and without chrome embellishment. paulz 01-08-06, 09:14 AM So, can I find beautiful vents somewhere on the web ? Jesda 01-08-06, 09:20 AM Not too shabby! gothicaleigh 01-08-06, 09:47 AM Not as bad as I thought it would look upon reading the thread title (I was fearing some ///M vents slapped on a CTS). While they actually had the intelligence to match the CTS' edgy looks, they seem to have missed the point of the design being purposely uncluttered. If they served some kind of mechanical advantage, I'd say go for it. As they are, I can't say I like them, but I don't think I would feel ill if I saw a car with them someday. Who knows, perhaps versions of the next CTS will come stock with them seeing as Cadillac has already added a set to the new Escalade. paulz 01-08-06, 09:56 AM I think that result is better on clear color cars... but not sure ! If the intention and model is good (that's why I bought them...), the chrom finish look is poor plastic. If they had the good idea to use true metal, I think that the result would have been above. When I paid them 129, I really didn't think it was not. That's all I said. ... and that's why I look for another pair of vents, more classy finish, even more priced... RobertCTS 01-08-06, 11:00 AM So, can I find beautiful vents somewhere on the web ? Buick has retro the exhaust ports on it's new models. You could order those from GMPD if you get the part number. http://usera.imagecave.com/BobsWork/a1C2B9119.JPG SoCadillac 01-08-06, 12:32 PM Buick has retro the exhaust ports on it's new models. Before anyone orders this part they had better look at it on the Lucerne as I believe that it actually fits into cut-offs in the fender, and it not just solely surface mounted. Well that certainly is a possibility. Knowing Detroit it's probably a paste on. But in any case it would be wise to check. Go to a buick dealer and pop the hood.:yup: SoCadillac 01-08-06, 12:55 PM Robert, Here is the Buick site and the Lucerne pics: http://www.buick.com/lucerne/gallery_exterior.jsp Choose the fender port pic. As you go through the pics you will both a 3 and 4 port version. paulz 01-08-06, 03:06 PM Yeah... I find those cool, and you ?? 2004CTS 01-08-06, 08:01 PM We must travel similar roads in the internet:) You know Buick has brought those port back on one of their model. They do have some style to them. I've seen them on the Buicks and they actually look good (blends the appearance of class and power). I don't think they'd look as good on a CTS. paulz 01-08-06, 08:38 PM and those ? http://www.custompartsplus.com/page/page/1418217.htm http://www.erebunicorp.com/accesscustom/cadCTS.htm li cadillac 01-10-06, 12:26 AM No not ricer at all. Fender vents are in big time. They look great!!!!!!!!!!! T-Dizzy 01-11-06, 05:35 PM No doubt. We've got a black/beige 3.6 'sport package' on order, and since that gives the CTS the 2007+ style mesh grille, the fender ports (not the stick-on ones) should complete the look. We'll be ordering the replacement fiberglass fenders shortly so everything arrives together. - T paulz 01-11-06, 07:27 PM I don't know... perhaps sell them on eBay ? I bought them at $130 + 10 shipping. RobertCTS 01-11-06, 08:56 PM No doubt. RobertCTS 01-16-06, 05:32 AM http://www.sarona.com/chevy_cadillac/cadillac_accessories.html or http://www.erebunicorp.com/accesscustom/cadCTS.htm Those are waste gates and spoilers. No changes to the fender lip. I think Spctor Werkes is the only one offering the fender flares. SoCadillac 01-17-06, 09:44 PM If you are going to go the fender port route, why not use the 2007 Escalade fender ports? At least you would be using Cadillac lineage. paulz 01-19-06, 08:38 AM SoCadillac, that idea seems great ! Could I have any members epinion about this ? 2004CTS 01-19-06, 08:45 AM If you are going to go the fender port route, why not use the 2007 Escalade fender ports? At least you would be using Cadillac lineage. The new Escalade is SHARP! The fender ports used on them appear to at least be similar to the CTS design and should complement the car's appearance. RobertCTS 01-19-06, 08:45 AM If you are going to go the fender port route, why not use the 2007 Escalade fender ports? At least you would be using Cadillac lineage. Looks nice but that would not be an easy install! See how the port sets into a indent? How would you do that without some body work? I think you need to look at surface mounts. paulz 01-20-06, 08:15 AM Here in France, I don't have access to any dealer. Could someone help me this way ? I tried to ask my questions by mail, but receive no answer and my French Cadillac dealer knows nothing. SoCadillac 01-20-06, 02:01 PM SoCadillac, that idea seems great ! Could I have any members opinion about this ? If you go either the Buick Lucerne fender port or the Escalade fender port route, both will require a body shop to install to where they look factory. I deal with such a body shop capable of doing either one to factory spec, but I am not doing fender ports. As far as the add-on's that you can buy aftermarket--they are tacky; they look like they are--add-on's. paulz 01-20-06, 10:23 PM mmm... Jaguar has a beautiful one : http://www.jaguarjapan.com/xj/portfolio/images/portfolio_entrance_02.gif Why not borrow styling clues from the Art & Science team's Cien? The evolution of the Art & Science CTS should be a CTS devoid of chrome and embellishment and one of pure, functional design. paulz 01-23-06, 05:56 PM SoCadillac, that's totally my feeling... but, in fact, it's very difficult to find beautiful accessories without chrome... or you find "Universal" pieces, cheap and poors, or you find some better pieces, but with "bling bling" everywhere. I'm not looking for "Too much" embelishment... just some details here and there to personalize this beauty. paulz 01-29-06, 05:39 PM :yup: | |
