He is a good man, Him and I are very similar he broke a lot of bones and many injures over the years and now he is paying for them. Now i am going down the same road. Just got recovered from a motorcycle accident. 'Ya wanna live? Sell the bike! I've been to more funerals for friends my age, because of 'cycles, than I have for illness or "old" age. Quit while you're ahead. They (bikes) are not the culprit, the idiot over there in the Toyopet that don't see you.....HE'S the danger!! (Unless yoiu live in a very rural area with rural roads and little traffic....say northern Vermont!). You don't want this to happen to you
:spin: Scrapyard 12-11-03, 01:28 AM You know, speaking as someone who rides, quite often. It's hard to give it up. It's more then transport, it's more then a lifestyle. It's like a cross between a sickness and a religion. It's not like you can just turn your back on your religion, and the sickness is still waiting for a cure. I've had friends get seriously injured and even die. I've been on the brunt side of a 4 door myself, but you just can't give it up. You even have those moments of doubt were you say maybe I should take a brake, but sooner or later you throw a leg over again. There are 2 types of riders. The kind that live in ignorence and the kind the accept the fact that one day your card is drawn. So you be as carful as you can and enjoy it to it's full potential. What is that saying, oh ya, with age comes wisdom. I respect and hear what you are saying, and I wouldn't tell you what to do, but knowing what crappy car drivers out there, does it not bother you? I mean, there are so many drunk drivers out there. They just released numbers for our province, and get this, 2 out of 5 drivers on the highway have been drinking, or are drunk! Sure, someday you card may be drawn, but why hasten the risk?? Life from a wheelchair would take some getting used to. I've had friends in that situation also. Oh ya, reminder to self, I do not want a motorcycle for XMas. :nono: Scrapyard 12-11-03, 05:09 AM What I'm saying is it's one of those things that's born into you. You ride because it's a part of you. But there's 2 sides to the coin. You're either a responsable rider or your a complete idiot that rides for the posser aspect of it. The ladder are the guys that wad themselves up into the back of a bus with'n the first month. Does it bother me the fact that there's a bunch of idiot drivers out there. Everytime I step out my front door. Weather I'm on my bike or in my car. And to look at were I live in retrospec. Drivers around my area are horrible. The first week I moved here, no lie, I saw 3 accident with in a 5 block radius in 4 hours. 2 of which I belive had fatalites. I saw 2 more with in the next 5 days. Mind you, all on the same street. And that's a weekly thing. Am I gona stop riding because of that. No. Because it's something I love to do and it's become a part of me. What I'm trying to say is motorcycles aren't bad. I wish people would get that stereo type out of their heads. Cause it's not the bike that's gona kill you if you know what you're doing. And to be fair, even the best rider comes up on a string of bad luck, but the more compotent rider is the one that's going to be able to avoid those situations in the first place. I fully respect that. It would be like someone taking away my Caddy and forcing me to walk, or worse, drive an Echo!! :disappoin To be honest with you about ten years ago I wanted an 883 Sportster, but I would have to wait 4 months to ride it. (springtime) I have no personal interest in bikes anymore, but some friends get into wipe-outs once in a while!! I still feel safer in a car though.
Reminder to self, I would like a Dodge Ram for Christmas. :yup: :coffee: Scrapyard 12-12-03, 01:46 AM I fully respect that. my motorcylce instructor had over a million riding miles over the life of 10 different bikes. He rides all over the US, Canada, and Mexico. Never once did he drop his bike or have an accident.
