That's the number of Cadillacs that I now own!

Okay, so I've been gone from the forums for about a month, not that anyone has noticed, but during that time (today), I purchased a 1989 Cadillac Sedan Deville for $400.00! The engine is the TBI 4.5 liter with 157,600 miles, which runs perfectly. While I was taking this car over to my garage, the engine ran so smooth and quiet that I though the car had stalled out...But it was just so smooth and quiet (remember, I have flowmasters on my main ride), I was tricked into thinking the car was quitting on me. The shifts are thusfar flawless, and despite a wheel problem (look below), the ride is also very smooth.

The body is in near-mint condidtion for the most part, but the guy I bought the car from had a paint job done to her, and never had the clear-coat done. That is something that will be addressed, but otherwise, the body is near-perfect.

Now there is a reason that the car was to be sold at this price: the rear passenger's side wheel hub bearing is so shot, that the wheel wobbles, and will likely fall off should I drive it any further. And there are some minor issues like a bad window track on the front drivers side door, the glove box latch needs replaced, and general little things like that...

As for what the car looks like, I'll try and post some pictures of her tomorrow or whenever, but a brief discription in short is as follows: the car is a cross between dark and light metalic blue, with blue leather interior. One slight dent on the trunk lid, and the wheel issue. Otherwise, she's very fine...

The story the guy gave me for why he was selling the car is as follows: he was tired of dealing with the car's problems (I remember him replacing the AC compressor this past Febuary), that he was going to sell the car to a junk yard if he couldn't get it sold soon. I asked what he wanted, and he quoted the $400.00 pricetag, which I agreed. I made sure the VIN numbers on the title and the car matched, and everything was cool thereafter. She's now my new toy, and before too soon, I expect to make quite a profit from her...

cool man, I hope you enjoy it! I test drove a beige '89 SDV w/ beige leather...I liked it a lot, almost as much power as my '92 SDV

I sure will while I still own her! I do plan to get the minor problems and the wheel hub repaired before I sell her, but I would like to think that I can get a really good return from this car. I have an '86 Deville that is in complete shambles right now, but between the two and perhaps another project down the road, I'll have a decent amount saved with what I already have to buy something a little newer.

I have been eyeballing a Bimmer, a Benz, and an Eldorado with the Northstar...The more I think about it, the Eldo seems to be right...Cannot betray Cadillac :o

Sweet Mike! Be careful how much you put into her if you want to make a profit though. Mine has half the mileage yours has and the last time I Blue Booked it only came up to $1,900.00. That gives you some margine to work with, maybe 6-700 depending on how much you want to make off of her.

Good luck with it! Keep us posted on how she works out!

What kind of Benz and BMW are you thinking about? No matter what kind of M-B or BMW, you would get more for your money with the Eldo

Haha!!!

Around where I live, the 1989 Sedan Deville with 157,500 miles retails for $2800.00!!! :p

I didn't look at private party value or trade in value, but I would likely sell the car in between the retail and private party...Believe me, there is always someone looking for a good, used Cadillac that will be in total mint condition (when I'm through with her).

Good score, but yea...don't spend too much on her, cause its tough to get it back...I'm on my 26th car in 9 years...about half have turned a profit, the rest I've just enjoyed till they died or donated their engines to something bigger and better! :)

Nice ride man! Mine is a darker blue than yours is, but the interior is the exact same.

As for making the profit from her, there's not too much that I have to spend to do so. Most of the cosmetic issues can be repaired without getting new parts. The major issue will be the replacement of the wheel hub bearing and anything else that that particular problem has caused...I will not know until she is ready to drive with a new back wheel bearing...

Now I have bigger fish to fry: the garage that I put my car car in is in a bad area of town, and the thieving neighbors know it!

I was showing the car off to my friend on Saturday when the idiots across the alley noticed my car. I was very reluctant to tell them anything at all about it when they asked. I told them the car was unable to drive...

I then noticed they had their garage door open when I seen a mid-'90's Oldsmobile in their garage that was "chopped" up. I asked what was wrong with the car, and the guy said "it needs a new fuel pump," yet the last time I checked, replacing a fuel pump didn't include removing the bumper, tail lamps, and hood of the car among other items...:suspect:

So yesturday when I was showing my brother the car, the whole "gang" was out there, and they couldn't help but eyeball everything. They had a Honda Civic in their garage this time...:suspect:

I guess this means I have to keep my eyes on things for a while now until I either find a new garage or they go away, either way, they're not touching my shit! I also have my engine hoist and larger tools in that garage, which are more easily accessible than the car is. Lucky for me, I disabled the car to where she won't even turn over, so hopefully that will be okay :rant2:
