I have a 97' deville and was wondering if you can use the stock cd changer with an aftermarket head unit.

Also, will the steering will radio controls work with an aftermarket deck?

I don't think I do, but how do you tell if you have the bose system?

thanks,

chuck

youre gonna lose steering wheel controls
youre gonna lose youre *chime

theres a hundred and one threads about putting am decks in the 97-99 deville, i did mine not too long ago. i posted a new thread with the solution when i figured it out.

if you have bose...i believe it will have "BOSE" written right across the head unit, i could be wrong. if not, you probly have the one that says RDS or something to that effect.

cd changer im not sure. my deck has a set of preouts for a cd changer, i figure there must be a way to rig it up somehow. theres also a remote connection from an aftermarket receiver for cd changer controls...i think.

where theres a will theres a way.

When I installed my unit, I retained the steering wheel controls. The volume works, but works as a second control. As in it doesn't actually lower the volume setting on the HU. The "sel" button now works as a fader. But to tell the truth, the volume button was the only one that I was using anyway.

Oh, and the changer did not work with the new HU.
