: Volvo Builds a Prowler

"The hand-built Prowler-alike gets its twin-turbo six from the S80 mounted in the back. Its five-speed Geartronic automatic sends power to the rear wheels, and the rear decklid automatically rises as the engine temperature does, to keep the engine bay cooled. Volvo built the T6's body around a tubular-steel frame and used the rear subframes from the S80, and crafted new control arms for the front and rear suspension. Front six-piston brakes are new, but the rears are S80 discs; the front wheels are 20-inchers, while the rears are 22-inchers."

Pretty cool. Wonder what the horsepower is.

Not exactly my taste in cars, the front end is too dull for my liking. Very egg shaped, too boring...

But again it's a Volvo, what do you expect...

The base S80 is 268 horse, 20 torque. Going from 1 turbo to 2 they''ll probably tune it for 300 or so horses. In a small car, should move pretty well.

Front brake jobs look easy.

Wow! That would be something. Now what was the Prowler rated at, something like 240hp??

Haha only Volvo could make a Prowler look-alike boring. Well, maybe Lexus/Toyota could do it too.

Not really a new idea is it. Lotus Super Seven of yesteryear.

I'd like to see one of these in person. I'm not quite sure what to think about it except "interesting"

Looks like a fancy dunebuggy!

The Plymouth Prowler had a great design, too bad they made a limited number.

I'm sure they would still be making them if they sold well. They thought the PT Cruiser was going to be a limited run.

I can't imagine it being very "safe" either to live up to their reputation, but you never know....

I had tickets on one a few years ago. Not too practical when we have snow 4 or 5 months of the year, but I would have sold it if I won it and bought something else. I think it only had a V6? Do you recall the hp??

yeah...a V6, i think it was the 3.5, same one they use in the 300/charger. So it shoulda been like 250 or more hp. The thing was light as hell though, whole thing was aluminum!

I wonder how bad the crash rating was...
