: Group Buy on Monaro Shift Knob for Your CTS-V!
Group Buy on Monaro Shift Knob for Your CTS-V!
Following up on Medicineman's great thread on the Shift Knob GM should have used in the CTS-V, I've found a great source in Ausie land (where the current GTO originated) who can supply us with that great looking shift knob and boot from the '05 Holden (GTO) Monaro. If we can get at least 10 people together, price for the knob and boot will be $100 each plus S&H to your door; this is a $25 reduction from the individual price. The vendor claims MSRP is ~$265, which seems to be unusually high to me.
This setup fits perfectly with your V and is much better looking then the stock unit GM handed us. To 'handle' :histeric: the difference in the shaft handle diameter from the GTO to the V, as Medicineman encountered, I plan to place a split metal bushing on the handle to snug up the fit - haven't done that yet so I don't know how that'll go, but this is just my initial idea. Installation of the knob and boot is easy and is explained in detail on Reed's
excellent cadillacfaq.com site on post #180 (http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/answers/shiftboot/index.html) The images below show the shift knob as installed by Medicineman on his V and as provided by the vendor.
Please let me know your interest by posting reply here and emailing me at firstname.lastname@example.org (PM function is not working for me.:annoyed: ) When emailing, please give me your forum handle and email address. I do not need your credit card number or address, so don't provide that to me. You will be dealing directly with the vendor but I need to know the number of interested people so I can advise the Ausie vendor to ensure the group-buy price. Any questions, let me know. :yup:

Does anybody know if there will be any problems fitting these onto a UUC shifter (mine just came today)?
10-28-05, 03:28 PM
Are you going hook us up with the bushing once you get one that works?

Count me in!

I think he means 100 for the boot and 100 for the knob...making it 200, but I maybe wrong.
Blackbeast, you're in at #2 ('cause I am gonna do this with or without 10.) Group price quoted is $100 for total package; boot and knob, plus S&H to your door in case anyone had questions. I also ordered the UUC shifter and since I don't have that yet, don't know how it'll fit on the stalk - that's why I am going to use a split metal bushing to ensure a good fit. And I'll post my results on this when I have the UUC and boot/knob.
oops, sorry - didn't see the rest of you:
so far I have

BadCad, do you have any additional info on the metal bushing? Will it work with the UUC shifter. Any idea of the new shifter will just slip on the UUC?

:yup: OK group - here's the status. We got 17 forum members as signups with emails sent to me and you are good to go; I emailed you all as confirmation that I got your email.
The following people said they emailed me but I did not get the emails with the email addresses, so please resend them to me. I need your email address so the vendor will know you are part of this group buy:
Florian, SBONES, DansCTSV, alcast082, kd7895.
The following people expressed interest but I did not get any emails with your email address; if still interested, email me:
TXSilver, DeputyDog, blackbeast. jspridge, c5racrl, homer403.
Since we have over 10 participants, we ought to get the group buy price of $100 (plus S&H to your door.) As we actually have over 20, I'll see if there is a better price for us, but I doubt it. I will contact the vendor and confirm the group buy and let you all know the steps needed to get the shifter. You will all be dealing directly with the vendor so once I get the particulars, I will email you all with the details. Any questions, let me know. As before, you can email me at email@example.com :yup:
Thanks again for putting this together!!! Now if you would just hurry up and get the group buy for BB Headers/exhaust and i-forged wheels.......
didn't i do that already? you musta missed that....

how long will this price be available, I want one, but not for about a week.
I haven't heard back yet from the Ausie vendor, I just emailed them this am with signup results as of today. I am planning on calling them on the phone later this week if they're slow in getting back to me for some reason. You have time, there is no cut-off date per se as of now. There may be depending on what they say......
Can you share the vendor's name? Do they have a website? I'd like to know a little more about the provider. Maybe you already mentioned it and I missed it.
:thepan: oops... those of you that want to email me, you oughta do so at
not as is in my update post above.
