"Ford has released the first shot of the 2007 Lincoln Aviator ahead of the new Aviator's launch next year. The Aviator - along with the mechanically similar Mazda CX-7 and Ford Edge crossovers - will join the luxury lineup next year as an '07 model. Ford plans a big Detroit auto show unveiling for the Aviator, which is aimed squarely at the likes of the Lexus RX and Nissan Murano. Though not confirmed by Ford, a 245-hp V-6 and all-wheel drive are the likely powertrain for the ritziest Aviators. Stay tuned to TCC for more pictures of the Aviator - and for previews of the Detroit auto show during the holiday season."

I'll take an SRX thank you...

Not a bad design to see on the roads... But not in my garage...

It looks like 80% of all the japanese SUV's you see on the roads.

:( :(

I actually like that. Its like a Lexus RX minus the UberDork. Watch as Ford allows this to fall on its face.

No thanks. I'll keep my 305HP V8 AWD Aviator.

They should truly keep the regular version as a special edition or something.

The regular version is a last-gen Explorer with a Navigator's interior. Terrible value for money considering how cheap well-options Explorers are now.

Well, it doesn't break any new ground, but it's handsome. I was under the impression that pricing was going to start in the low 30k region. Anybody know for sure?

Very ugly. Looks too much like the Nissan Murano. :vomit:

Whenever I trade, I'll probably go a little smaller, and that's probably it. Not that I don't absolutely LOVE what I have now.

I expect that will be at least five years or 70,000 miles down the road.

Me too! And whether it's a optioned up Explorer or not means nothing. You forget thst the Explorer has been the best selling SUV since it was introduced? Maybe there's some good reasons for that. Sorry, I have a problem with people messing with a good thing but car companies are well known for doing this kind of thing. Dump a model just when they manage to finally get it right.

From this angle, it looks much better than the Lexus and Murano.

Ford certainly doesn't need 3 flavors of the same truck based SUV, especially when car based cross-overs are the fastest growing category.

It makes sense that their 'luxury' brand would get the platform that would ride and handle the best.

Leave the trucks for Ford, and Mercury if you must. Especially since Mercury's and Lincolns are both sold at Lincoln/Mercury dealers.

Nice pic. I think that the Navagator is too much money for what it offers. It makes much more sense to purchace an Aviator like yours and you get pretty much every toy the Nav gets....

But we couldn't shake the nagging feeling that we'd seen this car before. As Lincoln tries to rebuild its standing in the luxury game it has been studying the competition -- especially that other brand that starts with L. Take a look for yourself.

This is like one of those "what's different" puzzles... let's see

Lincoln has -
extra spokes in the wheels
Front antenna
round gas door
bumper-mount license plate
faux taillight lens across back.......
