: 2006 delay, again!!

Just spoke to GM...production week has been postponed again, now to Nov. 7th. This is pretty frustrating, especially since my present car lease (non-GM) is up at the beginning of Nov. Should I be able to get the dealer to get me a loaner car in the meantime or am I just out of luck? Also, they gave me no reason for the delay. Is there any chance they may decide not to even produce it this year, considering all the problems GM is having lately?

Sorry they are making you wait, but the V really is worth waiting for. I test drove everything prior to getting mine (S4, E55, CLR55, RS6, WRX STi, M3, M5). The V was the best car, particularly if you like to shift yourself. You can extend most auto leases on a month-to-month basis at your existing monthly payment. Keep the faith and if your existing lease payment is less than what your anticipated V payment save the money and buy upgrades like a Stealth tune, or a cold air intake, or an exhaust system or...

Easy man, go eeeaaasssy. HaVe patience, it is a Virtue. You will love your V, so Very mod-able for so much less money than the competition. Hang tight and youll be rewarded!!!!

If the dealership wants your business, they should have no problems in giving you a loaner from their used car lot.

Weird. They bumped up production on the STS-V by two weeks.... I think the date is around Nov 20th, it was around Dec 12th until this week.

...meanwhile, my buddy is still waiting for his BMW 530. And will continue to wait until January. I'm all for immediate gratification, but as someone here said, "Patience is a virtue."

Wait for your V. As with other types of delayed gratification, the eventual pleasure will be dramatically increased. If you know what I mean. :eyebrow:

My lease was up before my car came. I called just before it was over to schedule the return date and pretended that I thought it was a month later. Basically, what I found out is that you do get a grace period after your lease before they charge you. I told them I was bringing it back on the 25th and they said they'd have to charge me, so I asked when the last day was that I could bring it back wihtout a charge and briought it back then.

Well, I am more calm that I was before, but it still pisses me off.

And, I took a look around at the others cars out there and all I do is compare them to the V...

So, I wait...

Remind me that when I get one, to name it after a woman... Because I am waiting for this damn thing just like I always wait for my wife!

I would say the new rear is to blame. They did not have them back in June , so I'll bet they waited until they had the new rear for the 06 and now they have to fight for space on the line. There is no way the LS2 held it up, and I cannot think of any other major changes that would.

I feel the exact same way...and with all the bad shit going on with the "NEW" 06 diffs, it doesn't seem like they've remedied the problem (maybe it's still delayed because they're still trying to find a diff that won't blow).

I'm seriously on the verge of going to pick up a 300C SRT8....or if i can squeze another ten grand out of my budget, a friend of mine is selling his 04 645ci with 3500 miles, all options, 6spd manual, for 63k.

btw, he's selling it to get an M6

well, just spoke to gm again as they have updates every Friday. There is another delay. Production now begins the week of November 14th. I heard something from a reliable source regarding the reason for the delay. Apparently there were some issues with the new V engine which I will not get into. It did not pass all initial testing. They were having the same problem with the STS-V but it was resolved, hence the reason the STS production was moved up by a couple of weeks. Anyhow, the latest I heard was that the engine issue was resolved and there should be no more delays. This info was not confirmed by gm but my source is reliable. Hope this won't be the beginning of more problems when I finally get my V.

I smell a fish here, becuase the order I put in is scheduled for next week, and the order was broadcast yesterday. There has been no modification of, or pushback on the CTS-V we ordered. Are you sure your seliing dealer had allocation?

matia
11-05-05, 04:29 PM
I was told as of the beginning of this week that it was to be built next week also, but that changed on Friday when I called gm. They gave me some excuse about the color I want will not go into production until the 14th. I ordered black, what color is yours?
ps. I ordered this car in July.

GM didn't even have a '06 CTS-V at SEMA, and gave no excuse as to why. They did have the race car, but they wouldn't open the hood. When I asked why they wouldn't open the hood they told me they just don't do that. So I said maybe I just won't buy a Cadillac next time. They did give out free V hats though.

matia
11-05-05, 09:53 PM
A few weeks ago my dealer also told me my car was built and I should have it in a week...don't hold your breath that your dealer is telling you the truth. You can call gm directly, give them your order number and they will tell you the status. I have found that to be the only way to get the actual status.

You guys are NOT going to like this. I just called GMBuyPower.com (800-462-8976) to find out what gives with Caddy's Personal Assistants and Dealers not giving the straight scoop on when the '06's will be available. If you've signed up with the CPA program, GMBP will have all your personal info. They told me build dates were supposed to start ~October 14th and when they did start it would be 6-8 WEEKS before dealers started taking delivery. He said we probably won't see them until mid-December.

I've given up any hope of picking one up before spring. Its stupid to take delivery of the car in Dec/Jan and have to garage it until March because of inclement weather or immediately shell out another $1,000 for new tires. Not to mention paying a new model premium to do this. :helpless:

NICE! You might take delivery of the first '06 V on the list!
GM's site located 3 'somewhat' local (<200 miles) cars so I called the dealers. Those listings seem to be the dealer allocations provided nobody calls dibs and changes the order. The cars don't actually exist on any of the lots yet.
Definitely post some pics and a review when you take delivery. Also note how many miles it came with.

I'm not positive, but what I understand is that production of the v began this week. The cars on the lots now are from the original few 'test' cars that were built prior to actual production. My car is being built right now and should be finished by Monday. Apparently the wheel hop issue has been resolved but there are a couple of issues that were not resolved as of production week. We will see how they pan out.
