I'd look for the reason your rotors failed instead of trying to hot rod the existing ones. Maybe you have a dragging caliper. Maybe your replacement rotors were complete junk. Brake hoses can sometimes collapse internally. Check this stuff out first. Those cars had adaquate braking and something has to be wrong if you are going through rotors that fast.

they brake rotors for your car are probably the same as a chevrolet trucks and who knows how many other countless GM vehicles. check part #s and compare and then you might be able to get a better deal by buying them for a something that doesnt say cadillac on them.

I know it's popular to dis foreign stuff but in this case I MUST protest. There are actually a lot of good import brake parts available out there. To group them all together and say they're no good in dead wrong IMO. Believe me, it's quite possible to come across some seriously poor quality parts that are made right here in America.

Totally incorrect. If you buy at the dealers, GM list is GM list. If you buy aftermarket, the parts store doesn't mark-up a rotor more based solely on what car you're looking up. If a part is shared among several vehicles, the price will be the same regardless of which one you use as the application when looking up the part. There ARE some parts that DO have that kind of pricing structure though (at least they did years ago). Porsche and VW were notorious for sharing parts but having huge mark-ups on the Porsche stuff.

That's nice, you have a good mechanic. It still does not make him perfect. Some foreign parts are junk but quality control has come a long way. These suppliers want to stay in business.

I am curious, what makes a "bad" rotor and what makes a "good" one? Cast Iron is Cast Iron. Unless it is flexing, or the metal is not surfaced to the correct finish as spec. I honestly don't see how one rotor techincally can be better or worse (as long as they meet GM spec) and you aren't comparing to the holey rotors or slotted.
