Anyone know what the towing capacity of the V is?

I think I remember seeing 1,000lbs.

Update:
Here's a very old thread: http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8879
A poster mentions that the regular CTS had 1,000lbs towing capacity, maybe that's why I was thinking 1,000lbs for the V.

1000 pounds according to the website:

http://www.cadillac.com/comparator/compareVehicle.do?model=ctsv&compareStatus=initial&divisionCode=CA&modelYear=2006&displayInTemplate=false&compareToWhat=cadillac&comparisonVehicles=NONE&baseVehicleId=5140

Quoted from service information for 2004 & 2005:

The CTS-V is not rated or designed to tow any trailer.

The regular CTS is rated for 1,000 lbs.

If its any help, I carried exactly 1,286.50 LB of tile in my car. The car only dropped about 1.5" and performed very well. However, I felt like I needed to throw an anchor out when attempting to stop

My ex-wife weighed 180 when I towed her behind mine....no issue whatsoever.

I have enough cars, I don't want another truck!

It's a fact the owner book says don't tow with the V, what a bummer!

It would be nice to be able to tow my ski boat to the river or launch locally with my daily driver. I'm sure the salt water wouldn't be kind to the Brembos but I'd do it in a heart beat if I could. Theres nothing quite like seeing your tool box floating in the trunk!

I wonder what the tow capacity of the SRT8's is? I need to keep my eyes on the future.

What's different about the V than the regular CTS that wouldn't allow us to tow. Is it the Nivomats?

The service manual doesn't specifically say, but I'm sure they're part of it...

differential, probably. Towing a trailer would give drivers more incentive to push the throttle more to make up for the load, thus unloading more of the 395 ft lbs of torque onto the 310 rated differential.

If your just pulling some jet skies or something I wouldn't worry about it.Good luck on a boat ramp without a hand brake.1000lbs=no problem guaranteed.

Okay, returning to a more somber mood (oh, that was rich), I believe there are a couple of threads that deal with towing and so forth, and I believe that, at least back then (spring, early summer 2005) there weren't any hitches available for a CTS-V ... a CTS YES, but not a V. This may have changed since then, but you may want to research it a bit. Good luck.

Back when the e46 was relatively new, there was a guy at a HPDE I went to with an M3 that towed a trailer with his track stuff. He had to cut a hole in the bumper to do it. Looked pretty funny.

For anyone that hasn't been to Europe, you would be amazed to see the kind of things they tow with all sorts of cars.
