So, are we supposed to judge a post on its merits? Or on our favorite buddy system?

Because I see a clique formed at the top of the heap just after one day.
This might not be a good thing for the long term health of the board, if it becomes a follow the leader or get beat down system.

Reputation doesn't necessarily need to be based on a post. I know it's setup that way, and I think that's a mistake - but there's nothing I can do about that. I'm not a programmer but I can suggest this to the product vendor..

People are going to give reputation based on things other than posts. They may just choose to give one that reputation wherever they see fit. Wherever they see the "scale".

If you're generally well-liked on the forum, you'll have enough good reputation to keep you "in the green". And vise verse. That's the way it works...
