Where can I find new bumper shock absorbers for the '77-up Devilles or Fleetwoods? I've searched a bit, but don't see them listed anywhere.

I've searched a bit, but don't see them listed anywhere. The Ape Man 10-17-05, 07:14 PM FYI: Do not mix these with '80 and up. The newer ones are smaller. Why not just get pre-owned units from the boneyard? N0DIH 10-17-05, 08:43 PM I can certify them pre owned if you like. I give all certified used parts the 5/50 protection plan. 5 feet/50 seconds, whichever comes first... Are you looking for the suspension bump stops or the shock absorber busings? I think PST has both. Else, dealer or any local parts store will have them too. brougham 10-17-05, 09:57 PM He's looking for the bumper shocks. The things that hold the bumpers on. At least that's what I think he's talking about. N0DIH 10-17-05, 10:33 PM I'm waaaayyy off! caddydaddy 10-18-05, 09:20 AM Yeah, the absorbers that the bumper bolts to. I was kinda thinking if I can't find replacements, I'd make a bracket to bolt the bumper to. The Ape Man 10-18-05, 11:43 AM I used to think this was a good idea also. I even had one car with cop car bumper mounts on the front. After having been involved in a chain reaction highway accident, I think the 5MPH bumpers are really a good thing to have. If you look at the way these cars crunch, they spread the energy out over time. I never thought my Cadillac was that smart when it came to crunch time. Those shocks usually have telltale signs of being compressed. If you find a set from a junkyard just look for any watermarks. | |
