Now the story about the ol'man getting beaten up by the NO Police department is rather disgusting and I will leave it at that--this is not the forum. BUT, in the last part of the story I saw this:

"On Friday, state authorities said they were investigating allegations that New Orleans police broke into a dealership and made off with nearly 200 cars - including 41 new Cadillacs - as the storm closed in."

Them NO "cops" stole 41 Cadillacs??? These people don't deserve Cadillacs, they should be riding donkeys...:annoyed:

Story here... (http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/10/09/taped.beatings.ap/index.html?section=cnn_topstories)

I also heard to be aware of used cars coming from that area because they are trying to pass off cars damaged by the floods as quality cars.....Off topic, but NBT, what kind of camera do you use? Your pics look like they came straight out of an auto magazine.

Well... it appears that there are a lot of corruption in that police department... if it can be called as such.

I use a Canon PowerShot A80--it is way too much of a camera and I probably only use about 4% of its features. I used to be a photographer back in another life--On sale here (http://www.digitalsaver.com/stores.asp?productid=9026A001)

I used to use regular cameras which were much less complicated than these thingamajigs they sell these days. Thanks!!! :)

I hate to beat up on those down there but I cannot tell how many times I have heard talking heads of the tube say all those people had no way to leave there. But all the scenes I see are nothing but cars and trucks sitting all over the place. One story I saw on MSNBC was showing what they said was the poorest part of NO and right in the middle of the view was a Cadillac. LOL

That's why them folks are simple folks. If they knew better they would not be looting convenient stores for food, money and beer, rather they would join the NO police department and would be looting Cadillacs.

See, the problem with them poor folks is that they don't set their goals high enough...

I am sorry, my bad. I didn't realize that referring to the the African American folks as "spooks" was an acceptable term in any place other than the back rooms of the KKK... Perhaps we should dust off the "N" word and call it "real" and "out there"...

The real funny thing is the institutionalized racism and those who are simply oblivious to it. This thread was about cops stealing Cadillacs yet it got hijacked by some racist(s) who is/are too ready to fall back on stereo types and easy laughs in order to make no point at all or to deliberately obfuscate the original point.

Obviously it would be a waste to show photographs showing white folks "taking" food and bread from a convenient store and black folks "looting" the same... the reasoning would be lost on some and really this is not a classroom.
So to the racist(s) polluting this forum I say: :farting:

None of our Forum posters used the words "Spooks" or "******". You don't have to be a racist to discuss what you see happening in the Gulf Coast Regions. You can't defend the behavior that took place in the aftermath of Katrina and Rita. I think those actions set the minorities back 50 years

Now come on, anybody running off with plasma tvs or 30 pairs of jeans from a store before setting it on fire isnt concerned about food.

The fact of the matter is as a country, we have brought this problem on ourselves. Our welfare system, originally developed as a "hand-up" for those who had run up on hard times, is now nothing more than a "handout" that is expected by those too lazy to go out and get a job. Think I'm exagerating, go work for the Post Office like I have. See who gets most of those checks, and better yet see if you have as much fun as I did getting chased around by some crackhead who wants thier damn check so they can go get high. We have furthered this problem by fostering a culture where nothing is ever "your fault". If someone rapes a kid, its because their parents abused them, not because they're a sick f***. If they become a career criminal, its not because they have no regard for morals, instead its because "this is what society expects from them and therefore they were somehow forced to comply with society's expectations". Nobody can care for themselves anymore and they expect the goverment to do everything for them. When the government is suddenly not there to wipe their a**, they dont know what to do. This doesnt have a thing to do with skin color or country of origin, its society as a whole.

If it was me in that situation, I would have been smart enough to get the heck out of town before the storm even hit. If that wasnt possible, then when the waters started flowing in, you can bet I would have grabbed my camp stove, a couple cans of gas, food and water and started walking. Those people just sat there and waited to be rescued.

...on some of the phots the word SPOOK appear in bold letters...

The closest thing I saw to "spook" was "spooky" which was part of the original text on a photochoped froot loops box. I think I speak for most of the members of this forum when I say I never would have made a racist connection to that word if you hadnt made such a big deal out of it. There is something the PC-mongers of this country have to realize. You are never going to get anyone to give a damn about actual cases of racism or discrimination if you spend so much time complaining about ONE word, taken out of context, in an EIGHT PAGE thread. Especially when the topic of the thread you are complaining about is people making fun of some fool who got caught red-handed doing something he knew was wrong.

I too am disgusted by the actions of some members of the New Orleans police department in respect to their conduct before and after the storm. They are supposed to serve as an example to the community of how to act, especially in a disaster situation. However I find the last sentance in your original post kind of ironic. Such a blanket statement is just as narrow-minded as your assumption that we think "white people collecting supplies" and "black people looting" was in reference to the same things. Collecting of food, water, and other basic necessities is completely different from going into an electronics store and stealing a tv when theres no electricity and your house is under water. There are stories of people who stole cars in order to flee the area because they either didnt own one or theirs had already been destroyed. These cars were probably not all stolen by cops, and even if they were they may not have all been assigned to remain in the area. They may even have been taking the vehicles to replace police cruisers that had been destroyed by the storm or flooding. We dont know because we werent there but nobody can go and make a blanket statement such as this without knowing the facts.
