Hey guys 6 hour drive from Mlps.MN to Grand Forks,ND netted me 28.2mpg with our 92 Touring Coupe. Before the trip I put a set of Goodyear Triple Treads on...they are fantastic! A little stiffer ride..not bad really, but they seem not very noisy at all..like some have said. I would recommend them highly.

what size and make are they I have a 94 etc and i want to go one size wider

What speed were you averaging? I could pull down that kind of mileage on my stock size tires in my 95 but I'd have to do it at 65-70.

Cruise was set @ 73mph. I run max pressure as stated on the tire, 44psi. Ride is still good, just alittle stiffer from the "h" rating....handling is awsome! Not sure about tire widths..check Discount tire's website. I would not go wider...when I did a lock to lock with the steering there wasn't much clearance even with the stock size tire. I would check that before you drive away and ruin a brand new tire that you would not be able to return.

Higher pressures will give a stiffer ride and better mileage as friction is reduced. Handling should be better at a lower PSI. You might even wear the tires prematurely at a higher PSI. Watch the center of the tread.

Handling will be better at high pressure. Less sidewall flex.

That's fine for the course but not advisable for a passenger car. By "lower PSI", I meant the recommended pressure.

If your tires are overinflated by 6 psi e.g., they could be damaged more easily when running over potholes or debris in the road. Higher inflated tires cannot isolate road irregularities well causing them to ride harsher. However, higher inflation pressures usually provide an improvement in steering response and cornering stability up to a point. This is why participants who use street tires in autocrosses, track events and road races, run higher than normal inflation pressures.
