I have a 97sts that has a small crack on the coolant tank where the hose connects which runs across the top of the motor. there only seems to be a problem with it if the AC is not on. For some reason. I've tried to use the JB weld but it peeled of cause of the heat and the coolant pulses out through the crack which has now stained the battery with the orange color. The dealer quoted me a price of $92 for the tank and $45 for the labor. I know this is a cadillac but that seems a little outrageous for a plastic tank which sits out in the open. Is there anywhere I can find this part so I can do the job myself, I've searched but came up with nothing.

Funny you should mention this. I had a hairline crack in the same place about a month or so ago. JB Weld worked for me........ so far.

45 dollars labor is only 1/2 hour flag time to the tech. $140 for insurance against destroying your engine is a small price to pay. An engine is over $9,000.00---ask your dealer

I sorta get the drift, but could you explain "flag time?"

My tank cracked right under the hose inlet as well. I paid $100 for a new tank to be installed on the radiator. I surmize just the heat from the return water is hot enough to distort and weaken the plastic as most of these radiators all seem to crack in the same place.
