I bought a Delco factory CD/cass stereo on E-bay for my 99 Devill.

It fits fine and the controls light up but it says that it is "locked by theftlock system".

Does anyone know how to go about getting the codes to unlock?
Or is it hopeless? If so I guess I'll just trash the thing.

Thanks.

You have to go to a dealer and get them to unlock it. I am pretty sure you have to have proof of ownership and the VIN of the original car or a statement from the original owner saying that they sold it to you and you didn't steal it. You need to talk to the person that sold it to you and have a few words.

Thanks,

I was afraid that would be the answer.

i did the same thing --all i had to do was go to my local caddy dealer and the service manager came out into the parking lot with his hand held computer and programed the unit with my vin # and the unit came right on --the problem i have is that you can not put an am/fm cass CD player in place of the stock am/fm cass player. the cass player has a built in amp -- the CD player requires an external amp which is supposed to be mounted in the trunk--therefore when the service manager had the radio on it has no volume because it is telling the computer it is searching for the amp.i thought maybe the car is pre-wired and it has the plug for the amp in the trunk so i could just buy an amp from the salvage yard and mount it where its supposed to be --plug it in and be good to go but i gotten that far yet.

Yep, you go into special functions under radio and there is a theft relearn procedure you do with the scan tool.
Probably cost you half an hour of whatever their going labor rate is.
