I can see where a concern like this with a locking mechanism would be frustrating. It seems that you might be looking for some advice on how to resolve this issue yourself. I had the same thing happen to my 2008 ESV. I think the mechanism that went bad is called an "actuator." This is the device that moves the locking up and down on each door. The dealership replaced mine.
