I've been through my 2009 Escalade manual a couple times but cannot find any recommendations on changing (or even checking) the differential fluid. Is there a reason for this? Is this sealed and never checked? I'm bringing my vehicle in for its 50K mile maintenance and the dealer asked me if I wanted that serviced.
The diffs are very small on these trucks, I change mine at the first oil change and every 20k miles, I would not let the go past 25k, as I said they are small and the oil gets very hot
If your truck has 50,000 miles on it, go ahead and get all of the fluids changed (transmission, diffs, etc). After that, you shouldn't worry for a long time. My '07 w/ 200k on it had all original fluids aside from the engine oil. Still ran like a champ.
Have Dealer do the Rear, bit messy and you need to worry about the gasket. However the Front Diff and the Transfer case is Very easy, I do mine every 2 years. I just like knowing fluid is clean. Simple. The first time I did the Transfer case at 50K, it was black.... after 2nd change in 2 years, nice red color....
Tip for the front diff: make sure you loosen the fill plug first. It can be a bear to get out.
