View Full Version : What should the "Black Pearl" get next? I've just recently sold a VW GTI that I had a lot of money invested in. I sold most of the parts separately. So there's a decent stash of cash sitting in my paypal account and a little more in cash in my room.
I'm looking to get some advice or direction from you guys. I'm a bit stuck on what to do next.
Right now I don't want wheels because there really isn't a suspension I'm willing to get right now to make the wheels look good. Mallet's coilovers are expensive and to do Mallet's oem shock/spring lowering kit of $1150 will run me more like $3,000 because I'm in California.
Performance wise, I already have the Maggie, Bassani exhaust, and if it's in this category, the B&M shifter.
Visually, I think the car doesn't really need anything done to the body. Actually, I take that back. I do want to smoke the tails, front amber driving lights, and the back up lights. I just want a really light tint of some sorts. I don't want them pitch black. Who does this kind of work, bodyshop, tint shop?
Actually, I'll let you guys give me suggestions. ;) heavymetals 09-27-05, 02:03 PM Headers?
Hood? (I need to know someone with a SPECTER hood)

I can tolerate the noise level of the bassani exhaust right now. Anything more would be uncomfortable. I think the headers would add too much rumble and resonance. Good suggestion though. ;)
Urbanski, are you serious? Because I actually like it. Do you know if it will fit the V? Ok, I just ordered some custom V logoed pedals from Ultimate Pedals.
Should I do the Stealth V tune? urbanski 09-27-05, 02:48 PM i don't know about that funny trunk thing man LOL i just saw it on ebay
StealthV WildPower tune > * Get the SPECTER hood. I'm thinking about getting one myself, but would like another V owner's opinion of it. heavymetals 09-27-05, 04:51 PM Get the SPECTER hood. I'm thinking about getting one myself, but would like another V owner's opinion of it.
I heard that it was "flimsey", but then I heard it was "tits".:hmm:
I am still waiting for shots of the doggone thing from SPECTER.:helpless:
If they don't want to sell product, they are doing an outstanding job.:hide: Can someone link me to this Specter hood? I'm not really interested in it but, want to see it. heavymetals 09-27-05, 05:24 PM Can someone link me to this Specter hood? I'm not really interested in it but, want to see it.

Without a doubt...
The stock tune that comes with the Maggie leaves a lot to be desired (air/fuel ratios can easily be "off the charts"). I will post more on this topic shortly, but you *DEFINITELY* want a StealthV tune. Do that before anything else.
:D
And I doubt that the addition of headers would add a significant amount of noise. Additionally, there still remains the mystery of why adding headers to a blown CTS-V doesn't result in significant HP gains &, in some cases, even losses of HP. I suppose that still remains an open item... Sorry guys, the hood is not my thing. I did like the monolite wheels they make though. :D
As for the Stealth V tune, I'm going to do it knowing that it'll cure what I don't like about the stock tune that comes with the maggie.
One, I don't like the small backfire "POP" after I turn off the car sometimes.
Two, at start up, it doesn't crank over as fast as it was stock, without the maggie.
Three, I need to do a dynorun and see what it's gained from stock. That way I can guage what improvement to the wheels the Stealth V tune has done. ;) As for the Stealth V tune, I'm going to do it knowing that it'll cure what I don't like about the stock tune that comes with the maggie.

1) Interesting--I never had that pre or post maggie
2) See #1 above
3) I will post this by next Tuesday / Wednesday as it relates to my V. :)
What I can tell you that it might (if not "will") do--it will take some of those miserable "flat" spots out of the torque band. heavymetals 09-27-05, 08:28 PM One, I don't like the small backfire "POP" after I turn off the car sometimes.
I get that once in awhile.
I refer to it as "FLAME OFF" :lildevil: You have plenty of power..StealthV tune it and you're done. Next, address suspension...Hotchkis sways, coilovers, ect. Just my thoughts... afr heads, blower cam and spray. get thise then let me know what you think, o yeah a 2.6 pully for the maggie also thebigjimsho 09-28-05, 02:09 AM Ahem...why don't you save the money for your family?
