Just sold my 2007 Escalade and I pulled the upgraded bluetooth VCIM unit (originally from a 2009 Escalade) which adds bluetooth capability to 2007-8 Escalades. Side tabs where removed to make an easy install in 2007 Escalades. You will gain bluetooth pairing for your cell phone over the vehicles radio system. It will display the incoming call number, lower the radio, even lower the A/C fans to reduce cabin noise and allow you to talk hands free over the cars radio system. Works perfectly, the only thing you lose is the ability so subscribe to onstar. Unit will come with the bluetooth antenna. The install takes 30-45 minutes.
The VCIM in the Escalade is underneath the stereo, so you have to remove the whole stereo and climate controls, and then you'll see it down in there, laying flat. There's a loop around the rear of it holding it down, and two side hooks. Move the two side hooks outward and lift it up and toward you. For mine, the wires were so tight, I could not see the back to press the tabs and remove the plugs, but I finally found I could turn it sideways and remove the wire plugs. After it was all installed, I hit the MUTE button on the steering wheel, say ON-STAR, it will reply "onstar ready," then you say "bluetooth," and then "pair." It will say the 4 digit pairing code and also display it on the dash display to pair you cellphone.
