View Full Version : I saw a Smart on the road yesterday HotRodSaint 09-23-05, 10:59 AM It looks like it started as this model, but it had aftermarket wheels and the front window was cut down as a speedster. Maybe it was a show car, or a Brabus modification?

If so its a production model called the Crossblade, it has channels cut in the interioe for water to run out and other modifications including lack of doors and windscreen and roof davesdeville 09-23-05, 12:21 PM Good thing you didn't run into it in your 2 ton + car... HotRodSaint 09-23-05, 12:29 PM Was it this...
That's exactly what it was. It had the red seats, but it was all black and the wheels looke like they were aftermarket.
A Smart is a rare siting in the US, so this Crossblade model must be even rarer. mccombie_5 09-23-05, 12:33 PM That's exactly what it was. It had the red seats, but it was all black and the wheels looke like they were aftermarket.

there are a few of the early model smarts here, few convertibles and i have only seen one Xblade that belonged to a local radio station...
They are a good idea if you nevr leave the city, but the Xblade is useless in the UK terrible one 09-23-05, 01:43 PM Ugly powerglide 09-23-05, 01:53 PM Anyone catch Topgear? They stuck towo of those 'blokes' in a new smart car (described as a saloon version) for 24 hours.

My theory of why NYC smells like urine (aside from dogs):
Cab/Limo drivers pee in a bottle, opens his door and dumps a bottle full of pee on the curb!

Those are called "trucker bombs." Apparently some people actually collect meth using truckdrivers urine in order to extract the unabsorbed meth out of it. Twas on the news a few weeks ago. powerglide 09-23-05, 05:34 PM Those are called "trucker bombs." I even looked ata couple Lupos , one was later the GTi version ...i think the other was the test bed for the clutchless manual mccombie_5 09-23-05, 08:58 PM Yeah, i would imagine you can get alot of that up there in the winterwonderland LOL
My ex wife lived by a test track, and there were often disguised cars there as far back as the 1970s!! Stoneage_Caddy 09-23-05, 09:01 PM there is even pictures i took of the XLR in the xlr section ....when it was in prototype form ....
i was there for testing , and i went to bolwing green for job one , i saw the very first customer XLR be fired up and rolled out the door ... mccombie_5 09-23-05, 09:04 PM Thats cool, none of the ones i saw disguised were as cool as an XLR they were like the Austin Montego..... HotRodSaint 09-24-05, 01:51 AM My 5 year old Nephew and I, saw what I think is the next Gen Nissan Sentra a couple of months ago. It looked like a small Maxima to me.
With many of the Japanese headquartered here, and the rest of the world having design studios in LA, I've seen a lot of prototypes in my lifetime. I~LUV~Caddys8792 09-24-05, 08:29 PM that "smart car" is like the size of a hood on any '70s lincoln/cadillac |
