It looks like it started as this model, but it had aftermarket wheels and the front window was cut down as a speedster. Maybe it was a show car, or a Brabus modification?

Then I pull into a 7/11 and theres a Lambo Guillardo taking up 2 parking spaces.

I love LA!!

Was it this:

http://www.dieselstation.com/wallpapers/Smart-Crossblade/Smart-Crossblade-002.jpg

If so its a production model called the Crossblade, it has channels cut in the interioe for water to run out and other modifications including lack of doors and windscreen and roof

Good thing you didn't run into it in your 2 ton + car...

That's exactly what it was. It had the red seats, but it was all black and the wheels looke like they were aftermarket.

A Smart is a rare siting in the US, so this Crossblade model must be even rarer.

there are a few of the early model smarts here, few convertibles and i have only seen one Xblade that belonged to a local radio station...

They are a good idea if you nevr leave the city, but the Xblade is useless in the UK

terrible one

Anyone catch Topgear? They stuck towo of those 'blokes' in a new smart car (described as a saloon version) for 24 hours.

I wonder how they 'relieved' themeselves...they never said.

.......they used bottles....

nice! the old snapple-bottle trick.....

My theory of why NYC smells like urine (aside from dogs):

Cab/Limo drivers pee in a bottle, opens his door and dumps a bottle full of pee on the curb!

talk about going off topic :hide:

Those are called "trucker bombs." Apparently some people actually collect meth using truckdrivers urine in order to extract the unabsorbed meth out of it. Twas on the news a few weeks ago.

i saw 2 smarts about 3 years ago in alaska , they were the roadsters ....everyone does artic testing there ...i saw the 6 series and the past s class before they came out ...among other things ...

I even looked ata couple Lupos , one was later the GTi version ...i think the other was the test bed for the clutchless manual

Yeah, i would imagine you can get alot of that up there in the winterwonderland LOL

My ex wife lived by a test track, and there were often disguised cars there as far back as the 1970s!!

My 5 year old Nephew and I, saw what I think is the next Gen Nissan Sentra a couple of months ago. It looked like a small Maxima to me.

With many of the Japanese headquartered here, and the rest of the world having design studios in LA, I've seen a lot of prototypes in my lifetime.

that "smart car" is like the size of a hood on any '70s lincoln/cadillac
