hello i bought an 97 deville (275HP engine) I Am planing on doing a tune up.
I have purchased a few items, and before i install them i want to know if i made a mistake or if something might mess it up:hmm:. I have heard OEM parts are best, but the nearest napa is like 25 miles away from my house.
I Bought:
8 - bosch platinum + 4 plugs (had an RX7 and all plugs where + 4)
1 - Fram air filter
1 - fram oil filter
6 Quarts- castrol GTX 10-30 ( how many are needed? ):hmm:

I would not put a Fram oil filter on my car if it where free. Take it back and get an A/C Delco if you can. If not, get anything else.

Many people have reported problems with Bosch plugs I would get A/C Delco 91-450's.

Fram air filter doesn't worry me, infact I have one in my car.

The Northstar takes 7 1/2 qts of oil. I just put 7 when I change oil and add a qt. when it gets low.

You can get plugs and wires from http://www.rockauto.com or http://www.gmpartsdirect.com for a pretty good price if you can't find them anywhere else.

it depends on how exstensive a tune up you want. when i bought my 90 deville a few months ago i also bought a distributer cap, rotary cap, pcv valve, and new wires. a/c delco is a better oil filter but i have a fram air filter. i also have champion copper plus which arent as good as platinum but its up to you on what to buy. you get what you pay for and its your preference. just go to your local auto parts store and ask.
