My friend tells me that his 93' deville (touring) has been running hot, making long drives problematic. The fan and a/c pump are in working order; he believes the problem to be either the radiator or the head gasket. I am unfamiliar with this problem- advice on the diagnosis or repair would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...

Check to be sure the radiator is not clogged with dead bugs etc. Flush it out well with a garden hose. Make sure the radiator cap is holding 15 psi. If all that is ok, then try flushing the radiator. May need to have it professionaly done if there is too much lime and calcium build up from using tap water vs distilled. Also be sure he is running a 50/50 mix. Don't overlook a failing thermostat.
