Has anybody else had problems with the windshield molding? I'm talking about the rubber molding that runs along the interface between the top of the windshield and the roof, from A-pillar to A-pillar. Apparently it is held in only by the A-pillar trim at each end. It pops out at high speed, above 65 MPH or so. It has been replace twice on my CTS and completely popped out on my way home tonight. I cannot believe no one else is having this problem. I have to keep pushing it back in with a credit card to properly re-seat it. The service writer at my dealership said it is such a problem on the CTS that the 2006 CTS doesn't have the molding at all...the front windshield is just like the rear window...no rubber molding at all.
Can any of you 2006 CTS owners verify that no winshield molding is used on the 2006? The problem becomes real bad on hot days and my black on black CTS probably makes the situation worse as everything expands in the heat.

3 Black CTS's in my family, including an 05 v and an 03 3.2 and no problems here. In fact, I've never heard of this problem before.
no problem here..matter of fact, i took a screwdriver and carefully tried to push the molding off in 3 different spots..it's on there solid..no way it's held just by the A-pillars..(i assume that you mean the strip that is tightly molded to top edge of front window..not the soft flexible rubber behind it as both the front and back on my 2005 have that..but the back window does not have the tight..i would say it seems like plastic, not rubber, trim that is on the front. 2005 cts manufactured in june by the way.

You should take a picture of what you are talking about and post it here. For the dealership to say that this is a problem on all CTS's except 2006 and you seem to be the first one here to mention it?
Maybe they are just trying not to fix it under warranty?

Tenax,
You are correct, it is more plastic like than rubber like. It is just pressed into the "groove" formed by the windshield to roofline interface. It tends to buckle under extreme heat (90 degree plus days) and when I get up to speed it just pops out of the track and it sounds like someone is pounding on the roof with a hammer. My dealership is very helpful and has replaced tons of stuff on the car already. They said there is a TSB for the problem that tells them to just replace it. I just have a hard time believing there is no adhesive added to the procedure to help keep it in place. Next time I'm at the dealership I'm going to look at a 2006 CTS to see if they indeed have removed the part.
Yeah, I like to see pictures as well. This is the weirdest thing I have ever heard (well...maybe one of them).

I owned a 2003 CTS and never had a problem with the windshield molding the whole time I owned it. I traded the 2003 CTS recently for an 2006 CTS. I just looked at the windshield and there is a plastic molding strip at the top of the windshield for the entire length of the windshield. Hope this info helps you, and best of luck getting it taken care of.
I had the same problem on my 04 CTS. First it came partially unglued, about 2 feet long. At 50+ MPH the damn thing would flop around the roof of the car. Sounded like someone was doing the Macarana up there.
Had a cracked windshield so replaced the whole thing anyway. Haven't had a problem with the new windshield. Never even went to dealer to have it dealt with.
Errrrrr, never happened to me. And I can assure you I've gone faster than 65mph.

Never had a problem on my '05 and this is the first I've heard of it.
