Just recently my stereo in my 98 Deville won't always allow me to w=switch over to the CD changer.

Here's what happens:
I'll hit the "source" button to toggle from the radio to the CD player. The display will read "CD", but I won't always see the little picture of a CD in the upper right corner of the display. After a couple seconds of nothing, the radio will come back on.

Now, if I go into the trunk, pull out the CD changer magazine, then reinsert it, the stereo will now recognize that there are discs in the changer and allow me to use. However, if I turn off the car or the stereo, it can't seem to see that there are still discs in the changer.

What's going on here?
