I have a code 85 and when I clear it it comes back in just a few seconds. It has a rough idle to.Here is what I have done.Pulled heads and replaced both heads gaskets and had heads checked for cracks and they resurfaced both of them.New spark plugs.New thermostat.New water pump.Drove it about 300 miles and started getting this code 85.I cleaned the TB today and I am still getting bad idle and code 85.Could it be the egr valve.Runs great off idle.
Help!

I have the same issue on mine. what does it mean when your idle throttle angle is too high and how do you fix it?

My guess would be that it is a faulty TPS (throttle position sensor).

Thanks Ranger. Do you know where the TPS is on a 1990 Fleetwood 4.5L? I I just got my caddy two days ago and havent picked up a haynes yet.

Hey, Pro Street, when you cleaned the throttle body did you also clean out the tubes down inside with a piece of stiff wire? What did you use to clean the throttle body? Also, I suggest you clear the 85 code with the engine off then disconnect your battery for a few seconds to reset the throttle angle to the factory default, reconnect the battery and then start the car to see if the 85 comes back.

I clean the TB with solvent and yes I did clean the tubes out.I will give that a try. Thanks

TPS should be on the side of the TB inline with the throttle plate shaft and have an electrical connection on it.
