Is It True That A 1993 Northstar Is Rated At 300hp, And Is It Swapable With A 1994 Northstar

There is a 275 HP version and a 300 HP version. You can't swap them as they have different final drive ratios as well as PCMs.

A 93 Northstar Vin 9 is rated at 295 . A Vin Y is 270hp. They are interchangeable with 94 Northstars of the same Vin (y with y/9 with 9)code only.

Northstar Interchangeability

93-94= Same Vin Code Only
95= Same Vin Code Only
96-99 =Same Vin Code Only(First year of OBDII 1996)
00-current= I think they all are interchangeable with each other

If memory serves me correctly, '93/'94 used a MAP (manifold absolute pressure) system for fuel delivery calculation and '95 went to MAF (mass air flow) which would require a different PCM. You can tell by the manifold. '93/'94 has the split manifold that you can remove the cover on. '95 on have a one piece molded plastic manifold.
