I have to take my car in to get the front shocks replaced. My local Cadillac dealership really sucks so I'm going to take it to a Chevy / Pontiac dealership instead. Am I making a mistake by not taking it to a Cadillac service center?

For a simple shock replacement, I doubt it. When I switched out my rear shocks I did it at Midas....shouldn't be a big deal....

hmmm, luckily i've never had to make this decision, but if there is absolutely NO other cadillac dealer you're willing to go to, and your current one sucks MAJORLY...i suppose it's worth a try, right? i'd advise really trying to find another caddy dealership in the area first though. being only caddy they may have more of an expertise (you'd like to think), instead of a well rounded knowledge in a variety of cars...i could be way wrong though...not the first, won't be the last. here in the detroit area i think i have 3-4 caddy dealerships within about 10-15 miles...which is good to know should someone really screw the pooch.

You shouldn't have any problem. Specially with the front struts. If there wasn't another Cadillac dealership near that I would trust, I would take it to my local GM Chevrolet Dealership.:yup:

I dropped my CTS off at the Chevrolet dealership today. I needed a loaner car so I could go to work. I waited 40 minutes for the rental person to arrive. I was given an '04 Pontiac Grand Am....what a piece of shit. Although I'm glad I don't have to deal with the a-holes at my local Cadillac dealership, I sure do miss the DeVille that I was given for a loaner there. I guess I just can't have it all.

For most work, you will be fine going to any GM dealer. I take mine to a Dealer that sells Chevy and Cadillac and the service department is much cheaper than the Caddy dealer. For example, my wife took the CTS in to the Cadillac dealer for an oil change and they said she needed an air filter as well when she asked how much that would cost, they told her it was $50 for the filter and $50 to install it. She told them no and I was ready to do it myself when, just for fun I called the Chevy/Caddy dealer and they said they could install the air filter for $34.95 parts AND labor! They have gotten ALL of our business ever since. Oh...I almost forgot, they even come to pick up your car for no additional charge, very good customer service.
