My CTS has been siting since Sat in garage. This am I go in there to get something from the car. I start here noises after opening door and grabing jacket. So I sit in car and listen. Find it the CD player shuffling the discs over and over for a least several minutes then stops. A few seconds later is starts doing it again and again seemly with no intention of stopping. The keys are not in the ignition, the radio is in the off position. I removed the discs as a precaution against battery drain.

?Is this normal? My 04 GMC with Bose system and 6 disc has never acted this way.

Also this may be related. Several times in the last month or two I have lost volume on XM for no apparent reason. Clear to sky etc, no volume like its muted but the radio or steering wheel controls were not touched. Have to turn off radio and back on for it to work till the next time. Recall at least 5 occurances in the past 2 months. GM tech relative (not cadi dealer though) thinks it could be the body control module.

Tell me if anyone else has noticed this things or am I going crazy, (btw-2004 GMC has similar sys and nothing like this happens).

I have top of line Bose system.

Z71,
You can get your car fixed, if the dealer doesn't know about the fix, print out the link below and give it to them.

I took my CTS in and got the new radio and there is a world of differance between the old radio and the new one.

I hope this will help you..

Thanks.

So far they have replaced;

Battery
Catalytic converter
O2 sensors
Now a Radio, what next the rear axle. I heard a whine starting there.

I have had more problems with this car in 3 months then had in 10 yrs with my GM trucks.

btw
I was out of town for a meeting Monday and stopped at a GMC dealer to get some small parts for a truck. Its also a Cadi dealer, as I was leaving I saw a nice silver CTS sitting in the back lot and stopped to look at it. Just as I was walking around car a salesman came over to me and said that car is not for sale. Its a 2005 (buy-back was eluded to) waiting for GM to come and take it away. He did not offer any more info, that I had to pry out of him by telling him I was looking for a used CTS. He had none, one 2006 model.

My attorney told me yesterday that he just won a Lemon Law case against Acura for his car. When I told him of my transmission problems he advised me to pursue it. I dunno, maybe I will. Car's there now for another "adjustment".

My CD player will make some odd noises when it starts up, mostly sounds like a CD clacking around inside, like it's trying to spit it out but it's stuck... once I start the car up it goes away....

single CD base radio

The car seems to activate alot of functions on door unlock... like preping the CD for play among other things.

I don't think we need to worry about battery drain as we have rundown protection, after 15 minutes of inactivity the car turns everything off I believe, and in 48 hours even onstar's passive anteena and systems get shut off (so make sure you don't leave your keys in the car after 2 days, remote unlock wont work :)
