I installed the SuperChips (http://www.superchips.com) Tune in my V this weekend.

The instructions were 100% spot on, the tuner was easy to install and fast as hell (under 30 minutes from start to finish) with no tools required. The SuperChips model number is 2724 (http://www.superchips.com/product.phtml?p=7&mmk=580&msg=%2B).

I then went for a little drive :lildevil: holy sh*t, the V is faster, revs quicker, and feel stronger. I know if I were to go with some other tunes I would get more HP out of the car. But I like the ability to take 15 minutes and return the car to the stock tune (should I need to go the dealership for example). I don't lose my tune or need to replace the PCM. There was a varity of things you could adjust in the tune (fan turn on temp, 1->4 shift, etc). I figured I would give a report after installing and let you guys know the tuner did work as advertised.

SuperChips you did a great job on this one!

Thank you, bro! I've been waiting for someone to post on the handhelds. The Superships model is in the Summit catalog at $399.95. Do they mention the CTS-V specifically in the instructions (as is called out in the catalog description) or is it really just lumped in as a generic LS6?

The reason I ask, also in the catalog are Granatelli's DiabloSport @ $349.95, Crane Cams Powermax Power Tuner @ $429.95 and Hypertech's Power Programmer III @ $399.95. In those catalog descriptions, none mention specifically the CTS-V but do mention the LS6. Thanks!

CaliCadi - Yes the instructions do call out a CTSV. Instructions are spot on.

Slywun -- Email me and lets talk, I would be happy to show you.

1meanv -- I agree, for a tune like that SuperChips would not be the right choise. StealthV might be able to get you going in that case.

Does the SuperChips tune offer some of the highlights of other tunes?
Electronically Lightened flywheel?
Torque Management disabled?
Does it take into consideration mods to your car (intake, exhaust)? Or does this even matter?

I assume there are lots of choices for the V when tuning it but the website doesn't elaborate too much.

Thanks.

I do not think SuperChips tune offers the torqe managemnt or flywheel options (I didn't see it).

I think the SuperrChip tune is a good tune for an easy to turn back to stock tune.

In my opionion if you want bang for buck and don't want to get back to stock quickly (30 minutes) then I would call Stealth up and send him your PCM.

I totally agree and therein lies my delima. I want a StealthV tune bad but am worried about dealer problems if the rear goes in the future and they threaten to void warranty because I eliminated Torque Management or some crap like that. One cannot do the StealthV tune and then change back to stock very easily. I am surprised more people doing Rick's tune haven't had concerns about this.

The key words on my comment are EASY (and 30 minutes). I am sure more technical guy/gals out there can get it done in very little time.

Try Ebay for the best prices on the Superchips programmer.

I had the same thoughts, but after communicating with Rick, I decided to get another PCM and have him tune that one. That way I can go back to stock in a few minutes if necessary (I did the same thing with my Audi and it worked great). It costs an extra $500.00 and you have to get the crankshaft position sensor set once on the new PCM, but, where else can you buy 30-40 more HP for $1,000.00 total and still be able to have warranty protection?

you can either
1. not worry about the warranty and beat the hell out of the car
2. buy another PCM for the tune and save your stocker on the shelf
3. if your car breaks and you can limp back to your garage you can take the PCM out, mail it back, get stock flashed back on....then get it towed in. LOL
