View Full Version : Color choice? archerday 09-12-05, 01:00 PM Hi, gang!
This is my first post to the forum. I'm buying a 2006 CTS this week and, for the life of me, I can't choose a color. I plan on driving this car into the ground 8+ years so a paint color that wears well is important to me as well something not to crazy.
My current choices are:
Silversmoke with black interior
Stealth Grey with cashmere interior
Black with cashmere interior
Black IS beautiful but I'm concern about the color showing every ding and scratch over time...not to mention the fact you have to wash it all the time.
Silversmoke looks nice, but I'm not a fan of black interior given the summers we have here in Virginia.
Stealth Grey is an interesting color, but may go out of style in 8 years.
Opinions? My pathetic inability to pick a color has delayed my CTS enjoyment for too long! Maybe I need a poll....

CTS Lover :cool2: Tyler80 09-12-05, 01:19 PM I'm glad you posted this. Because I seem to be in the same situation. I'm going to be buying a 2006, and I really can't decide. I like the black color too, because it looks nice with the silver grill, but my friend has a black car and she has to wash it constantly. So I'm currently looking for a Light Platinum with Light Gray/Ebony interior. I've never looked at any other combinations, because I've always liked silver for a car color and I like a lighter interior because I drive a car with a dark interior now. But the more CTS's I see on the road, makes me want to change my mind. I, like archerday, will be driving this car for a long time, so I want to make a color choice that I'll be happy with, and not regret. What are some opinions? spaceman78 09-12-05, 01:43 PM White Diamond The Color Is Beutiful........... just lou 09-12-05, 01:52 PM White Diamond The Color Is Beutiful...........
Yup. My last 2 Cadi's were White Diamond. I even took a 2.8 off the lot instead of a 3.6 because they didn't have a 3.6 White Diamond. RobertCTS 09-12-05, 02:08 PM :welcome: to the Forum :D :yup:  :bouncy:
For what it's worth, Black is the most ordered color. I have an '04 with the Raven Black and love it. TripleOught 09-12-05, 02:10 PM when i went to the dealer to choose mine i was pretty lucky (or unlucky if you can't make decisions). they had a black, silver, cashmere, maroon and white diamond available (all the 2003's by the way). i thought the maroon was really unique and looked great with some mods (like marines) but i couldn't get over the white diamond. just looked too classy. took that one home the next week. thankfully, i don't regret my decision in the least...
i saw a few sts's in the white diamond and i think they look really awesome...makes me wish i had the extra 30g's to throw down. wonder if they'll offer the new v's in white diamond since it's become cadillacs "trademark" color.
back on track: dealing with strictly those 3 colors, i'd probably stay away from the black (although i love black cars as long as they aren't mine to clean). the silversmoke is really nice but i too don't care for the hot dark interiors. i've always been a fan of sleath grey. my buddy's GMC sierra is that color and it looks great. if it were me based on exterior/interior, and i couldn't have my white diamond, it's be stealth grey then silversmoke.
good luck my man. I had a 2001 Eldorado in the white diamond. Definely a classy and rich choice. I traded in my 2002 White Diamond Eldorado for my CTS. It was the most beautiful car I ever owned. :crying:

Those aren't "white walls", they're "Vouges". Depending on the model and color Cadi you have, driving it without Vogues is like wearing a suit with sneakers. moeparr 09-12-05, 02:48 PM If you're having that hard a time deciding, go with the Black Raven. You can never go wrong with black...it's always in style and it's a classic Cadillac color. TripleOught 09-12-05, 02:51 PM haha, i know they're vogues man...just like to stir the pot every now and again. don't get me wrong, i love them. if i wasn't so much of a puss i'd put a sleak pair on my cts but i'm too afraid of the critisism. think i'll just stick with the inconspicuos black sidewalls for now.
not sure who or what this guy is doing, but i wanted an opportunity to use him. so there. :wes: RobertCTS 09-12-05, 02:59 PM I traded in my 2002 White Diamond Eldorado for my CTS. It was the most beautiful car I ever owned. :crying:

Yep, the last year for the Eldo. That looks just like mine. I hate FWD but the car was so stunning. I bet the STS looks hot in that color too. dkozloski 09-12-05, 03:04 PM Red Line; the only way to go. Be prepared to have strangers tell you that you own the most beautiful car they have ever seen. Makes sense in Fairbanks Alaska. You'd never find your white Cadillac.:D akhiljain 09-12-05, 04:33 PM hi all,
just buyed a 05 CTS...:cool2: i have a light platinum with ebony interior...love the way it looks and the best part...it doesn't look dirty even if u had a lot of rain spots on it (until u saw it real hard)....so if u r not much into cleaning thing then this is what u can look for... Well, if you live in Virginia, then I would suggest against the black leather. And for that matter, the black paint as well. But, having said that, I think black ext/tan int. is the perfect combonation for sleek classy exterior, and a fresh natural looking interior. Thats what I have.
All 3 combos will look good. Silversmoke with black is gonna be pure sex, especially if you get the wood package and the hid's! pjohnesq 09-12-05, 05:23 PM My current choices are:

One choice, really if you don't go black --- Silversmoke Black on black, imo, is the only way to go. If you guys think black is to hot VA weather, try living in FL. What a bunch of girls. If I were you, I would not get black. You will see every scratch and ding. Plus what are you going to do when the salt trucks come by and slam your new car w/salt. I would go for the Silversmoke. I've got tan interior and it's a bitch to keep clean.
Good luck w/your decision. Here's my usual .02 cents worth. Take a look at a detailed blue chip. It looks like a surreal kind of dark purple in bright sunlight fom the sides. It shows this same effect at dawn and dusk. It has that sharp royal blue like look during the day. In the dark I have people ask me if its a special blue-black custom paint. It really looks different uhder florescent tube lighting. It suprisingly does'nt show dirt as much as the black or red. Plus don't worry, you'll end up loving it in most any of the colors:welcome: archerday 09-15-05, 03:52 PM Thanks to everyone who chimed in about the color. Black got the most positive votes and, at the same time, the most negative votes.
Smoke and Stealth Grey got about the same votes.
All in all, I'm at square one. :)
Perhaps it is time to just drive to the lot and see what is in stock....
Thanks again!
Archer
p.s. if you read this thread and feel like voting for a color, feel free! I'd look at Blackberry, the giant color chip at the dealership was cool. I have Stealth Grey and it looks great with a coat of polish. Changes from Blue Grey to Green Grey to Gray Blue depending on the light. I'd have considered Sand Storm if there had been one in stock but when you're shopping the GM firesale, you get what's available. RobertCTS 09-15-05, 06:08 PM Black is most popular because when it's clean it's a knock out! It takes extra effort and some don't like that. I've had several black cars. On the CTS it add to the stealth design. dbknight 09-15-05, 09:03 PM I have a Garnet Red ('03), I think the current similar color is RedLine -- whatever their calling it, maroon looks gorgeous on this car. Especially with a slight window tint and the mirror-polished 17" wheels.
I have had black cars in the past. While I do love the car in black, I don't have the patience to deal with it. babrams 09-16-05, 12:20 AM Which interior color goes best with White Diamond? I think the two tone grey/ebony looks best with this color, not that there is a lot of choices (2 on he 06 according to the brochure) The all Ebony is awfully hot for the warmer climates. From the choices provided, I would go with the smoke gray/black interior. Cashmere interior make it look too grandpa'ish :yup: SuperCrew 09-16-05, 12:33 PM Here's my usual .02 cents worth. Gotta agree with that. We only had a choice of Black and the Blue Chip. We had just gotten rid of a black car with black leather so we really didn't want that again. The Blue Chip has been AWESOME. As mentioned, in certain light it can play some really cool color tricks on people - even you. I can't tell you how many times we almost walked right by it in a parking lot after we first got it. The only drawback is the taupe interior - it's hard to keep clean with kids, but then again so is any color.
Out of you choices, I'd go with the silver smoke. collapsed 09-16-05, 02:18 PM Which interior color goes best with White Diamond?
Definately the cashmere leather... Mmmmm! Thats what I have in my CTS, and quite frankly wouldnt buy in any other color combination. If I couldn't get that, then I would get cashmere with black paint. 3rd would be black on black. I think they look best in silver, and that's what I got. When you look at all of GM's promotional material for the CTS, they almost always use silver. It just seems to fit the A&S look the best.
Now I know there's a tonne of silver CTSs out there, and people have asked why I didn't get a colour different than the norm. Well, I bought my car for what I think looks best, and it'd be silly to take something I find less appealing just to be different. I agree. Silver (actually called Light Platinum) is tops.

When it is polished, black is the best. 2nd Choice would be redline (or whatever they call it today) White diamond is great looking, but also hard to keep clean. When I pull up in the black CTS polished nice, heads turn archerday 09-22-05, 05:38 PM I want to thank everyone for their help! Good choice! Black is where it's at!!:p Hi again Robert

Maybe a bit but it's worth it. At Our Ohio Meet nearly all the CTSs were black!
Zaino is a good wax to save the Black. Out of those colors (and I LOVE the Black), I'd go for the Stealh Gray for the simple reason that there aren't as many out there. I would have gotten the Stealth for mine but the Redline was available first....
then again, I'm an odd fellow..... | |
