My friend owns a 03 CLK55 AMG, and I'm looking to purchase a V within the next 4 months. I'm curious as to how these 2 cars will stack up against each other. I have driven both the V and CLK, but I have never seen them head to head. The CLK has around 362 HP and a bunch of tourque also. Thanks for the replies.

edit: CLK - 362 hp / 369 lb. tq

You will chew him up for lunch... as long as you're in the right gear.. if you're on the freeway at 60mph doing a roll....drop it in to second... you'll kill him!

One.. CLK55 AMG curb weight dry is 3960... so already 110 lbs heavier than a dry CTS-V

Two...CLK55 AMG = automatic... V = 6 speed manual

Three ... CLK55 AMG = 362/369 ? .... V = 400/395

I've done freeway and local road pulls with the older body style CLK55 and the newer one... and I pull hard on both cars.

Thanks for the above info. I could have swore the CLK was light, but oh well thats great. His dad has a 03 CL600...any thoughts on that monster?

I got my Ass whipped by a SL600, but I've beaten a couple of CLK55 AMG cars. It's the 55 AMG Kompressor cars that will eat up the V.

MB cars to play with:
C43 AMG
C36 AMG
C32 AMG (stock and few mods)
C55 AMG
CLK55 AMG
SLK32 AMG (stock and few mods)
SLK55 AMG
any non AMG Benz in the E,C, CLK, S430, S500, CL500, CLS500, SL500
Older box body E55 AMG
Older NA S55 AMG (single dual tail pipes)
Older NA CL55 AMG

MB cars to stay away from (i clarified on a few vehicles because it's easy to mistake an older CL55 with a new one unless you look for the dual dual pipes.. a new E55.. well we all know what they look like):
new E55 AMG
new S55 AMG (dual dual tail pipes)
new CL55 AMG (dual dual tail pipes)
CLS55 AMG
SL55 AMG
SL65 AMG (god's vehicle .. hopped up twin turbo V12 600 hp/700 ft lbs)
CL65 AMG (god's vehicle .. hopped up twin turbo V12 600 hp/700 ft lbs)
SL600 (twin turbo v12)
CL600 (twin turbo v12)
S600 (twin turbo v12)

I agree with Kimchee's assement on Mercedes. While you should stay away from the cars he mentioned, you can easily surprise them. Some don't know what a V can do. One found out on I-15 about 2 months ago. Once he caught up, he almost rear ended someone because he was staring at my car. His was the supercharged AMG E55 (??). He would have been real pissed if he realized that he could by two Vs for the price of his car. (The guy had a Ferrari license plate frame by the way).

Great info guys. Thanks. It unfortunate though, his dad is trading in the CL600 for a CL 65 the end of this month.
