Does anyone know if I could use the throttle body unit (with injectors, ISC, and TPS) from an '85 Eldo 4.1L/4.5L, for an '82 Eldo (4.1L)? I'm wondering if the parts would be interchangeable, since I'm pretty sure the ISC is, and I think the injectors and TPS *should* be compatible with the computer, unless someone knows otherwise. The throttle body looks like it should mount right in, but I haven't tried it so I don't know for sure if it fits--but given the engines are basically the same, I would think it would be fine... The part number on the 85 throttle body unit is #17110353. The TPS and injector flow rate should be the same, for any HT4100 right?
Any help that anybody can provide would be greatly appreciated!!!
As long as they are both 4100s there should be no problem.
I don't think you would even have to swap TPS or anything else....
The TPS for the '85 seems to have the connector facing up, instead of sideways out of the throttle body unit. It looks like the TPS is just different, in that the connector faces up instead of sideways--for whatever reason...? Perhaps the old TPS would fit on there too, but the '85 unit already comes with the newer TPS & ISC etc on it. There might be different connectors on the fuel injectors too--but I dunno why there should be if the unit is for an HT4100.

I think there may have been some revisions made for the 1985 model year in this respect. But, if the connectors fit on, then the unit should be fine. All injector connectors are the same for all GM TBI units so you are safe there.

Wow good to know all the connectors are the same for the injectors. Do you think the revisions made for the 1985 model year were due to emissions, or were they specifically for the computer in some way? I'm wondering if it's going to see a performance increase/decrease based on what the computer expects from the injectors..
Everything should be the same except the connector for the TPS. You can verify that by laying the 85 next to the 82 . I can tell you from personal experience that an 81 8/6/4 engine's throttle body will mount on a 4100 with the thick insulator base gasket. Swap out the injectors from the 4100 throttle body and the 4100's TPS. Adjust the TpS to 4100 specs. Because the 368 cu inch throttle body has much larger throttle blades, you will notice much more low end power, i.e. quicker throttle response. A much more pleasurable car to drive and the mileage will not be affected. top end power will be the same because the heads can only pass so much air. The base gasket has to be thick to allow the throttle blades to go fully open. I also used the cruise control servo that used the bead chain instead of the rod found on 4100's. The throttle hook up was wider because of the larger throttle bores. Also bump the timing from spec up 2 degrees. This worked on an 84 Eldo with forward facing engine.
