2005 CTS-V with about 300 miles on it. Steel Gray.

I paid $42,700. Car will be $43,600 out the door shipped to Phx. with all documentation fees.

I posted about this car in another thread. I've seen it in person - it has TWO SERIOUS DENTS/DINGS on the driver side doors. These are dings that CHIPPED THE PAINT to the metal. I sent an email to the seller of this car several days ago notifying them of this exact problem. I received no resp[onse and the listing never changed. You need to follow through on this and make sure they fixed the problem. I assume they never disclosed it to you.

These dents are visible from 10 feet away - minimum - you cannot miss them, it is NOT flawless. Feel free to pm/email me at my username at gmail.

not trying to be grumpy or an ass... just...wanted to point it out.

I pulled the auction listing again, in addition to the "no visible dents" it also says:

"CAR IS PERFECT - BRAND NEW . . ."

I am, by the way, a little crazy and I can't stand to see someone get screwed by a dealer - so I drove over there when I had a few minutes last night (it's only about 15 min. from my house) and took some pictures. They moved the car from a display pad to a covered area, btw, and it has a sold sign. In any event, there are a few pics of the car below. The body pics were taken without flash. Sorry about all the additional pics guys, consider it a public service to verbs.

They do have a very nice Black on Black V with chromed wheels that is a grand more - they should give you that instead - although I'm not sure I'd take anything from them at this point. Don't let them tell you they had no idea, I mentioned it to the salesman when I saw the car on the lot and I checked my emails and I notified the selling eBay saleman, Chris, through ebay on September 4th:

"I've seen this vehicle on your lot. Nice car, but it has two small, but serious, dings that chipped the paint on the lower sections of driver's side doors. They are noticeable from several feet away as the white/silver shows up pretty distinctly agains the grey. You should disclose or fix them."

Good luck,

Rich

Wow, Rich! Talk about looking out for your fellow V owners. It is pretty sad that a dealer would not disclose damage like that.

I was a little concerned about buying mine from Ohio and shipping to CA, especially even without seeing a single picture. Chesrown had it detailed before it went on the truck, and it arrived here in perfect shape, actually cleaner than the last two new vehicles I purchased locally. There was a very small scratch on the gas door, but not worth griping about, especially since it is very easy to remove and repaint. I suspect that the scratch happened accidentally during shipping anyway.

Oh and for the record, my SG 05 with black interior, roof & FG2s arrived at my door for less than $43,600 including first class shipping, with only 30 miles on it.

Happy to help - the gratitude is thanks enough for me.

I think they knew about the dents, planned to sell it to a remote buyer and blame the dents on the transport company. 1) the dents are really obvious from about 10 feet - white/silver on grey; 2) I said something to one of their salesmen about them; 3) I emailed the seller through eBay about the dents several days before you bought the car.

Does he deny that he received an email about this? You can't tell me the guy doesn't check his email. He'd probably know it was me - anyone else want to bait this guy with a question about another car that he has listed (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissan-Maxima-3-5-SE-Sedan-2005-NISSAN-MAXIMA-SE-5-SPEED-AUTO-ROOF-TINT-SMELLS-NEW_W0QQitemZ4573816163QQcategoryZ6400QQssPageName ZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) just to see if he does in fact read his ebay messages?

Do you guys think I should use the dents as a negotiating tool to have the price knocked down a little further?

Definitely. You paid for a PERFECT car and are getting a less than perfect car that has been repaired for some bad dings. He should cut you a better deal and be grateful that you don't give him negative feedback. In fact, I've been tempted to write a letter to Carl Sewell (prominently featured in their eBay listings with his book "Customers for Life") about this issue, my dealings with another of their clueless sales wonks (detailed in another thread) and another friend's dealings with their Infiniti dealership. Personally, as ready as I am to pull the trigger on a V (if I can find what I want at a price I like), I now would not and will not buy from Sewell. Period.

p.s. - on another thread, there was a member who was posting GM VIS - vehicle history information if you posted the vin # of the car. That might give you an idea of the car's prior history.

I talked to him today, and he said all they did was paint over it, and swears that you cannot tell there ever was a dent there. I think I will have to pick it up in person so he can't blame anyone else. He also denies knowing about the dents and swears they must have occured while the car was on the lot.

I can't imagine they just painted over the dents and all is fine now. Shouldn't there be a lot more to it than just painting?

That's just crap. You can see from the pics that these are dents, not just paint chips. I don't know how you get those dents. I couldn't figure it out, but I don't see how you'd get them on the lot. You cannot just paint them - you have to repair with a fill (you can't just pull these dents) or replace the sheetmetal.

You should negotiate the price down if you have not already. If you want me to go back and look at the car and send you some pics to save you the trip out here, let me know. I'd be happy to reprise my role as Sewell gadfly.

The dents almost look like the V was hit with a few BB's (or maybe low-powered pellets?) My dealer delivered mine with a very small ding in the left rear quarter panel whcih I did not notice until a day later. I called and bought it back to them. Twenty minutes later they brought the car out front and the ding was gone without a trace (they used a "paintless ding removal" guy) I spoke with him for a minute because I was impressed and he explained they use a combination of suction cups and heat. But, the ding I had was nowhere near as bad as the two on that car. Marty

Verbs, I just saw your message - so I probably won't make it out there tonight - but I'll definitely get out there tomorrow (thursday). Hopefully, the car will be out in an area where I can conduct an independent inspection - if not, you may need to tell them to show me the car - I don't think they are going to like me very much (not that I care).

Rich

Screw them. Tell Chris or anyone that you were sent by me to inspect the car, and if he has a problem with it to call me. They have my cell phone #.

So let it be written, so let it be done.

I'm leaving the office in a bit and will run up there. I've got my camera with me . . .

LOL this is better than a soap opera
FWIW in my dealings with Sewell, they have a very elitist attitude, that it is YOUR privilege to buy from them! They'll smooth talk you into a sale, then just try to get customer support after the sale.

Now, whenever I open this thread, I have the theme music from Melrose Place playing in the background. This is good stuff!:yup:

Now, if only Sewell would send Heather Locklear over to Verb's house for some "customer service"......:histeric:

Keep it comin'!!

So what happened? We need an update.

Short version: nothing yet.

I got up there a few minutes after 8:00 last night straight from work and the place was a ghost town. Most dealers around here close at 9:00 - so I don't know what the deal was on that. I walked all of the lot that I could get to and looked through their fencing at some other cars - but couldn't find your car. They're going to have to show the car to me. I'm going to get out there at lunch today. Sorry verbs. Could you send me his contact info and let him know I'm going to get over there today? You can email it to me at my username at gmail.com

<cue music>

I emailed Verbs about this last night, but wanted to update the rest of you. I went over and looked at the car yesterday afternoon. Salesman was very accomodating - I just told him that I was a friend of Verbs - I did not tell him that I had been the guy who saw the damage.

The car looks really good. They painted both doors completely (I still think that should get a discount) and fixed the dings. It looked like there might have been a very slight overspray imperfection in the driver's door - but it was so minor that it was almost impossible to see. Everything else looked good. They also replaced some door trim that he said was a little warped - although I had not noticed it - so it sounds like they looked pretty closely at the car.

Smooth talkers was right - the guy seemed -genuinely- concerned that I inspect the car and be satisfied - I think he would have let me drive it if I had asked, but I was not going to do that.

I still have my doubts about their motives in not disclosing it and whether or not they knew about it - but it does look like they have come through on the other end.

BTW - when I had looked at the car before, that salesman could only tell me that they had bought it at auction - as it turns out the car was bought at auction from Cadillac - it was a program car - used by a PGA pro for the Phoenix Open - so it came all the way here to Dallas just to go back.

They do still have a black on black with about 350 miles - but the salesman said he was a little concerned about selling it because it had been modded, but he wasn't sure how (beyond the exhaust) and didn't know how the car had been treated over its brief 350 mile prior ownership. Interesting.

Hopefully, this is nearly the end of the saga and there remains only the happy ending of verbs picking up his car in Dallas and driving off into the sunset, hauling ass across west Texas.

Well, for Verbs' sake, I'm glad there was a happy ending to this saga, but the way this story was going, I half expected to read that Euclidjr had lowered himself from the showroom roof in the dead of night, supported by a series of cables, like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible, gathering all sorts of incriminating intel....:sneaky:

Job well done!

So are you saying that the dealer actually repaired the door dings left when Tiger Woods kicked the door panel with his spikes!? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!:banghead: That V was priceless! was
