beechbend, great dragstrip. The yellow z06 looked about right in the 11's, the black not so good. My 03 z06 ran 12.20 , but it was red, the fastest color on vettes. Black on V's:nyanya:

7K redline helps. Look what the M3 does with 333hp and 8K redline and still runs in the mid-13s.

Put a blower on an LS6 or LS2 and you'll better results in the same car. The braking is really bad in the Z06 according to C&D. Only 10 feet shorter distance than the sedan comparo in the same mag. I hope the Z06 does not receive the same bad press that the Viper did when it had no ABS.

C&D tested the Z and it ran the quarter in 11.7 @ 125.

0-60 in 3.6

Damn !

I plan on trading the V in one that should be here sometime in December.

It better be all I have read about! I am awaiting pricing from Duke Chevy, but it looks like I will be trading my '05 Acura RL on one in the next couple of months.

I was reading on several forums about Caravaggio's Targa conversion for the upcoming Z06 :yup:

AUTOWEEK Magazine called the Z06 "The Best Supercar Buy of All Time."

I'm anxiously waiting a winter delivery of mine (have deposits at two dealerships), so I'll have it for track season next year. It will be DSOM, same as the C6 I'm trading for it.

The V will be retired from track events and will become my daily driver again.

Any billionaires here spare a few bucks so I can buy one?

Pretty Please?

I am going to wait for the hype to die down a bit and for GMS to kick in again. I'll pay 65000 for one but anything over that I will just keep the V.

Unfortunately, the yellow car isn't a Z06. According to some guys on another forum, it's a C6 modified by Breathless Performance. The engine has some work and a nitros kit. You can see more pics of the body kit here:

If the interior was as nice or nicer than my V, I'd consider it, but honestly the C6 interior is only marginally better than my '02 SS's was and not worth the $$$, IMHO. I'd spend the money on upgrading the V, or getting a '00 hardtop and mini-tub & 427 & twin-turbo & ...

:hmm: Won't your insurance rate go up, thus your agent is making a bigger commision?

Just because a pro hot-shoe can turn an 11.7 in a particular car on a certain day, does not mean the average owner can duplicate it. Also, traction and weather conditions and altitude can vary results dramatically. The black one did run a 12.0@120 which is pretty stout....

I love the car but i hate the seating position... for some reason i feel like im looking down a tube in it... dont get me wrong, it is a great car and fast.. was going to get one a c5 that is last year before i got the V instead.. im 6 foot 1 and 1/2 that car imho is perfect for 5 foot to 5'9 heights... cause i have problems seeing good in it, it like an illusion looking over the hood telling distance.. but thats just me.. but it is a fast car... i cant wait to race a new one with my V.. that will be fun.

That's REALLY close to a 10-second timeslip on slicks.

The C&D test was down on GM's Milford(sp?) Proving grounds. Probably the same surface the V was recording 4.6 0-60 and a throughly gone over car(read: ringer). I'll wait until C6Z cycles through a number of hands for some concrete times.

Though W2W said there is another 40hp on the dyno.

That black Z06 needs a better driver, that guy was granny shifting REAL bad! I would believe 11.7s with a driver. Slicks would knock a few more tenths off.

The operating life of a Blower or Turbocharger is 35,000-40,000 miles (observed and my own experiences). Buy two when you get the urge. An engine that is naturally aspirated and designed for high horsepower will have the reliability of ~150,000-200,000 miles.
