: I need to vent...im so pissed.

Most of you know my story - the V that blew away/flooded/or vandalized in the Hurricane. I cant find another V to purchase. I want black on black no questions asked, and its gotta be well priced - people are trying to rip others off on used V's - you have to factor in the employee discount - ie you cant ask 44k for a used V when you can get a new 05 for slightly more or in some cases Less!!!!!! The V I was supposed to buy was a good price - what they should all be - 37k with 15k miles black on black - thats what a used V should sell for NO MORE. So dealers and private sellers get 40k+ outta your heads - its just insane. A car is not an investment - it depreciates - and the second you drive it off the lot you loose lots of money and have to accept that loss. Anyways I cant find a freakin V because of this situation, and it pisses me off. Sorry if this doesnt really matter or mean anything to anyone but IM PISSED. AHHHHHHH

Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
09-07-05, 03:28 PM
Poor you...it's bad enough that thousands of people have died and many more are dying, but knowing you can't find a reasonably priced black on black CTS-V makes my heart heavy. Curse you Hurricane Katrina!
09-07-05, 03:29 PM
I understand you being pissed.
But it's up to the seller to set the price. If you don't want to buy it at that price, you don't have to!
Hope you didn't lose to much in the hurricane.
Not sure if it's your thing, but I saw an 05 black on black on Ebay, take over lease (Payment of $520/month) 20 months left.Might be an option.
09-07-05, 03:52 PM
I'm glad there are no more Vs out there for dealers to "give away". A used V is worth every bit of $40k+ regardless of some of the good deals that have been had.
Ever heard of supply and demand?
09-07-05, 03:54 PM
ooooo thanks slywun, Im definetly calling him. Thanks.
And too all else, you have to understand I feel unbelievably for the people in New Orleans, in fact my aunt lives there, she got out safely thank God. But this thread was regarding my car. I already have been posting HEART msgs on another Msg Board specifically for the victims. So again I feel sorry for the people, but this thread was me venting about loosing my car. So sorry if i offended.
09-07-05, 03:55 PM
YES I have.... im an economics major..... thanks tho
09-07-05, 04:01 PM
Maybe instead of people donating money to the Red Cross, they can donate money to you to put toward your "V"...
09-07-05, 04:35 PM
now thats just a stupid idea.
09-07-05, 05:10 PM
I cant say i am dissappointed that the V is holding its value.. Remember, only 7500 were produced in 04/05.
I was getting worried it would be worth $20k next year...
Yes, its not an invesement, I would like like it to hold its value.
09-07-05, 05:13 PM
So buy a new one then. I don't get your gripe. Used prices are based on availability, condition and demand for the car. Plain and simple. You have an economics degree, you should understand this.
The used car market will bear what people are willing to pay. If the prices are high, and people are paying those prices, then that is the current value.
If you feel some are overpriced, wait them out. If they need to sell the car and cant at the current price, they will drop their price.
Its really very simple.
09-07-05, 05:23 PM
but you guys should know how vast the V's New value is. Shit i saw some dealerships selling them New at 56,000 and others at 46,000. Same bullshit is going on now - people are trying to sell them for 40-43k used when there only worth like 35-38 - IMO. SO if I cant find a V what do I get a 2004-2005 s4 or an 03 M3.
09-07-05, 05:27 PM
Like I said, if you think they are more expensive, then wait them out. Maybe they have ultra low mileage or siginficant mods or something, or maybe they are just priced higher.
If you can't find a used one, you have 3 options.
1. Buy new
2. Wait until one does come available at your price
3. Buy another car
There are not that many cars made in the first place, so reason would tell you that there are not that many used cars either. Right place, right time.
09-07-05, 05:41 PM
you checked e-bay?

This thread hardly merits a reply.....

They must be "worth" more than you think since you can't find one for 35-38. Frankly, I would not sell mine for that and would be surprised if you could find one for those prices. I would also hope that my car had not depreciated the $18,000 that you are expecting in 6 months.
09-07-05, 06:22 PM
I'll sell you mine at 45000 with 10,000 of mods on it and I'll go get another one
09-07-05, 06:31 PM
I know you dont wnat to spend $48k on my car but you can take over my lease @ $650/month with all upgrades included!!!!
$650 / month
43 months left
41k miles left on the lease...
UUC shifter, Corsa Exhaust, Lingenfelter Intake, Foose Speedster 6 wheels in black with chrome lip on Bridgestone Potenza S-03s (90% life left)... with stock wheels/tires with 6 mile son them... custom piantedlights, 35% tint, 50% tint on entire windshield... figure you buy a car at $42k + all upgrades it equals out to my $48k...
think about it. GMAC takes 1 month to transfer for credit approval and contract agreement.
09-07-05, 06:50 PM
If you aren't finding any that can be had for 37K then maybe that is telling you something. GTOs went back on employee pricing today. They are much cheaper and easy to find.

check out ebay motors..............that's your best route
09-07-05, 07:18 PM
Did you get it off ebay about the same time as the storm hit? I remember seeing one go on ebay for $37,000 about then? Wondered what happended to it.
I am currently talking with a guy about one with 28k miles for 32k. I might be able to get him down to 31k, if I back out on the deal do you want the info?
09-07-05, 07:39 PM
It is nice to see the V holding its value after the first initial big hit. Since the 06 V is coming out, I expect 05s to sell in the low 40s, especially from a dealer.
Ebay is nice but I would never buy a car from anyone on Ebay. That is just my opinion. I prefer to look at and drive a car before I buy it. You never know what problem there is on a "good deal". Maybe Cadillac denied a warranty claim on the good deal. Maybe it was damaged somehow. You just never know.
I am selling one in South Florida with brand new OEM runflats and around 13500 on the Odo. $40,000 Black on Black with Gunmetal Tint, FG2 Shocks, and moonroof. Interested? Email me firstname.lastname@example.org
I'd take $37,500 for mine. 17,500 miles. With everything the dealer's replaced it will be practically brand new. The bad news now is that my transmission is supposedly on national back order. My V's been there since 8/29. I may have it back by 9/15.
09-07-05, 09:47 PM
thats a great deal!! havent heard a lease that cheap for that car..he must of put alot of cash down!!
you might want to check your states lemon laws. With the downtime you've had with your car, you might be able to have GM buy it back from you. Give it a look.
09-07-05, 11:48 PM
I am thrilled the depreciation hits have slowed down a bit.
But I know if that was myself, I would be a bit upset that I couldn't find an identical car for an identical price. Best of luck finding another.
09-07-05, 11:53 PM
I have a lower lease rate - I put nothing down towards cap reduction, only fees and first months lease payment. Purchased on employee pricing minus $1K new ~3 weeks ago in CA. 3 years 36K mile term.

Don't you mean "oops I crapped my pants"...wait a minute, SNL is not a supporting vendor.
Sorry...guess I shouldn't advertise here :alchi:
09-08-05, 01:43 AM
When do the '06's hit the showrooms? Shouldn't it be soon?
09-08-05, 03:55 PM
bdrussel - Yes if your deal goes sour I want the info
I heard 3 weeks. (that was as of this past Tuesday)
