This is a problem that has actually been a problem since I bought this car, but since I was posting about a little experience concerning keys locked in the ignition.. I thought I would see what was up here.
Ok, My Eldo runs fine - great take offs, beautiful cruising and can take stop'n'go traffic like a true Cadillac. The problem actually starts before any of this can take place, at ignition.
The car has never failed to start. I have never been stranded or anything like that. However, it can be embarassing to get in this fine black two door and and crank it, it can sometimes take three or four attempts (at the recommended "Hold the ignigtion key for no longer than 3 seconds rule) to get it to start, and when it does - there is a VERY small cloud of blueish smoke.
Also, after it starts, it smells RICH! like I spilled gasoline in the back seat rich.
Then, as per usual, the CHECK OIL LEVEL is displayed on my information bar. The oil level on the dipstick, however, without fail is right where it should be.
My dad thinks its because the car now has 157k on it, and is well over due a tune up. He also says that there may be some kind of INTERNAL oil leak getting into a chamber.
I should also mention that if I turn the car off and leave it sitting for no more than about an hour, this won't happen. It will crank right up without any kind of show. But after an hour of being off, I can place money that I am going to fight for fire.
Any ideas?
