I saw an add for the 06 V in Car & Driver...it says 0-60 in 4.9. I wonder if this higher number is because the LS2 powered V is slower (which I doubt) or because hardly anyone could get the claimed 4.6 0-60 in the old adds.

Can you scan it and attach it to your thread or e-mail it to me at jmed99@hotmail.com if you can't attach it to your thread?

This is interesting. If anyone gets Motor Trend, the latest issue they list all the new models for 06. MT claims in their little blurb for the CTS that the 06 V will acheive faster 0 to 60 times than the 05's becasue of the LS2.

So, we wont really know until they hit the streets.

nice catch. That is very interesting. I would find it hard to believe that Cadillac would make a newer model slower than the previous. They may be playing it safe for insurance reasons. Or, perhaps the car is just slower. (Im glad I have the Ls6)

I noticed that as well. Seems to me the marketing dept. is "playing it safer" then they did in the past :nono:

The STS-V simply says around 5 seconds, or something like that...

Rule #1 of marketing... dont make a greater claim than necessary... they created a campaign "under 5 seconds" so there is no reason to be 4.6.. they only need 4.9 to be under 5 seconds. What marketing benifit does the .3 seconds get them... Probably nothing...

So, yes they are being more conservative. Reduces theit potential risk from a advertising claim lawsuit (especially considering the standing start, clutch drop-wheelhop)

Thats 101 for ya'....

GM is getting dinged for their 0-60 claims. We all know that even a sub-5 second 0-60 run is a wheel hopping, clutch killing, rear differential blowing experience. On another note, Car and Driver called the factory numbers for the new Z06 "optimistic". Nice way of saying - YOU LIED. :lildevil:

I saw that ad too, "Startling 4.9 second 0-60". Startling indeed, since apparently 0.3 more liters caused a 6.5% slower acceleration time!

Maybe that is with the otptional, less performance oriented, tires. Hmmmm.

I love how you guys are calling GM out on their over marketing. :P

I commented about this around 1-2 months ago when someone posted a picture of the ad. I can't find the original post now.

My guess is that Cadillac either used the RSAs during the time or they don't want to be accused of abusing the car trying to achieve 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. GM is pulling the same crap Ford pulled with their Cobra years ago.
