I've been reading posts here for a while and have been able to find my problem and fix them from the info here. I can't find and answer for this one though. Last week when I start my 97 Eldorado, I get the Service Steering System message. It goes off when the car warms up or is restarted after it's been running a while. Steering fluid is at correct level. While this message is on, the steering is a little stiff. I just lost the right front brake caliper Friday and the car is being towed to a mechanic to replace. Lost all the brake fluid out of it in a matter of seconds. Could that message have something to do with the caliper leaking prior to comletely failing? Or am I having and entirely different problem with the Steering message? Thanks in advance!

The SES light is usually emissions related. Enter the onboard diagnostics and retrieve the codes.

OFF + Warmer or UP + ON/OFF ;)

Service Steering System

I don't recall reading any posts on that message. If you got that message, I would think there is probably a code for it coming up in your OBD II. You say your fluid level is good, maybe the pump isn't pumping suffice enough.

OOPS! I just reread the post to be "Service Steering System" not SES. Sorry. I do believe there are some sensors in the steering system. By all means check the codes.
