Howdy all...just joined the forums and spent the last 4 hours reading the great info. SOOOOO hre is my virgin post! Just picked up a 99 Seville SLS with 90K. My question is this....Just how reliable is the N* motor? Understand my measuring stick is my 90 Sedan DeVille with 213000 trouble free miles. Love the Sevilles looks and performance but I gotta say that after reading some of this stuff I am sweating a bit! So bring on the reassurance!

From what I have read the answer to your question is "very" Just make sure that you replace your coolant on a regular basis... If your car hasn't been done... ITS ready!

I have found my '02 to be amazingly reliable... Only minor things needed replacing while she was under warranty... Nothing since the warranty has lapsed...

Good Luck and enjoy your new ride...

A properly maintained Northstar will cruise way past 200K miles without an eyeblink. Some are still two-stepping at 300K. I've got 122K+ miles on mine and every once in a while I even consider giving her the FIRST tuneup . . . . ah, maybe next year. :yup:

Don't be concerned about any gripes you might read here. Remember, we're here to solve those few problems that arise, NOT to tell you how great these cars run otherwise.

Congratulations on the loss of your virginity! It's about time.:welcome:

Warren

I've had my 98 SLS for barely 8 months. I bought it 74,000 miles on it, and i have already bumped it up to 90,800 miles :D

the car is super reliable! I drove it from Michigan to Colorado only stopping for gas and food, and the car didn't even flinch the whole way out there and back.

the last cadillac i also had was an 89 Deville that was retired at 232,000 miles. I'm glad there are others out there just as high :)

keep up with routine maintenance, and all that good stuff and you should be fine!

enjoy the car and enjoy the forum!
