"the fastest civilian aircraft in the world? The name ‘Javelin’ is apt, as the small (36 feet, say 11 metres long), twin turbofan jet will cleave the air at a phenomenal 965 km/hour. That’s 0.90 Mach, around 600 mph."

Looks like a fun little plane! I wouldn't mind having one. It would be even nicer to be in the position of affording one! ;)

The "target" should be under the plane, although you must be assuming we would try to sneak in UNDER radar range but still see us from above.... :nono: :cool2:

It's ok, because as a civilian, I'll just "sneak in" with one of those little Javelins, PLUS I'll be a much smaller target, and therefore much more difficult to shoot down.

Amy is worth the risk... :cool2: :highfive:

Actually the Cessna Citation X (business jet) can fly up to mach .92. I'll pick one up right after I get my STS-V.

But it's a lot larger....right? Think how fun this little thing must be...

Gulfstream G550 > Citation X

davesdeville
09-06-05, 03:34 AM
The G550 isn't really in the same class as a Citation X. The X carries 8, the G550 carries 14... it's just a much bigger aircraft. The X is still the speed king of bizjets. BBJ > G550 anyway.

Sinister Angel
09-06-05, 01:09 PM
Might be the speed king, but the G550 has a greater range, even at .87 Mach. I don't even think you could get the Citation X to do that range with that mach number. Hell, Cessna doesn't even say on the page what cruise speed it's at to get the 3,390 NM range number anyways. I seriously doubt it's at .92 mach.
