my doors on my seville, especially the rear passenger doors squeak a lot when they are opened. I have tried spraying white lithum grease in the hinges, with no effect.

could this squeaking / rubber rubbing on itself sound be coming from the door check straps? i tried spraying the lithium grease on the door check straps but also no luck. it is worse when it is hot outside. the colder it gets the less noise the doors make.

thanks in advance!

I GOT THIS ONE GUYS. :D I had the same problem with my '02. The door checks are what the problem is. They are about $35 - $40 each at the dealer. They are much cheaper from www.gmpartsdirect.com. I bought one from the dealer for about $38.00. I bought the other three for about $75.00, from gm parts direct. The part numbers are: front 25696851 / rear 25696652. They are very easy to change, and are silent. You will not hear a thing, when opening and closing the doors. I suggest changing them all, and doing it yourself.

perfect! I have replaced both of the door check straps on my Chrylser also. they both cracked within months of each other!

Alright so on the Seville, do I have to remove the door panels to replace the door checks? I had to on my Chrysler. Is it fairly straight forward to remove the panels if I need to?

Thanks Don!! :cool2:

Yes, the door panels need to come out, but it is very easy. I would post a link, but I do not know how. Check out the thread about accessing the door window motor, in ths forum. It was started by Lubork, and is on page 2. I posted how to remove the inner and outer door panels, with some pictures. It is rather simple. After changing out the first door check, I ordered the other three. Changing out the other three, took right about 1 hour. If you have any further questions, let me know.

Don,

I just copy and paste the url into the posting. no need to put any code around it. the forum will make it a link automatically. to do it manually you use code like this: [*url*] url address here with no spaces [*/url*] and remove each of the * in the tags

Thanks. I would have never figured that out. It sometimes is the simple things, that give me the most trouble.
