View Full Version : Guys Are Romantically Challenged?!!!

OK guys (ladies welcome too of course) we men are typically considered romantically challenged when it comes to film watching, but that isn't necessarily true. So, here's a small chance to show it. A simple exercise;

What is your idea of a romantic movie?

Here are two of mine;

'A Walk In The Clouds'
Keanu Reeves & Aitana Sanchez-Gijon

'Return To Me'
David Duchovny & Minnie Driver
(romantic comedy)

Here's one of my favorite exchanges. I know, it's not a romantic part, I think it's hilarious....

Marty; (Irish accent) "Have to get home to the little wife do ya?"
Bob; "No."
Marty; "Yeah, eh, uh, you're not married then?"
Bob; "No, not really."
Marty; "Oh, God I hope she didn't walk out on ya?"
Bob; "No, ...no she passed away."
Marty; "Oh, Jesus, Mary and Joseph! That's very sad. Oh, I....I hate to hear that but anyway, c'mon in, we'll have a pint on that."

So, anyone game on this? Or does it threaten your manhood? :)

Back when i was with my girl i had like all the really good ones on this list so when she said hey go pic up a movie for tonight i was ready lol. Now i just watch anything with a good car case in it lol.

I think a Romantic Comedy is the best thing for a date. You have to make 'em laugh, and I don't mean by them having to look at you either.

A great movie is "Head over Heels" with Freddy Prince jr. and while the girls like it (my ex sure did) it has something for the guys also to keep us glued to the screen, namely.............supermodels! Loaded with supermodels.

"White Chicks" is another great one that will have them laughing, and of course anything with Natasha Henstridge, although women don't seem to like sci-fi too much, or car movies, but when you do find one that does, you know you've found someone special. ;)

I've never seen "A Walk in the Clouds" Kevo.

My ex would make me watch "Ever After" with Drew Barrymoore and I couldn't stand it!! I guess that's why she's my "EX" now. :D

"As Good As It Gets" was good also.

Hmmm, I wonder what type of movies Amy likes..... :suspense:

Cruel Intentions will get you laid. It works EVERY time.

Hmm, I guess I -am- romantically challenged.

I prefer to go with the slightly more artistic films. If you want real winners, Breakfast at Tiffany's or the English Patient. The Notebook is damn good as well, but I always choke up at the end because my grandmother died only shorly before it was released from Alzheimers. I'll probably get flak for this but I can't stand romantic comedies! They're so stupid! I know chicks like them, but the movies are so pointless and unrealistic! My woman made me watch Serendipity with her and her best friend a month ago. Terrible! That kind of stuff doesn't happen in real life! Argh. Anyways, go with the artful tasteful romantic movies and your lady will be impressed!

I guess I never really know what to watch...I always use the "I'll bring the movie", and they say "ok", but they usually know damn well I'm not there to watch a movie and therefore, am not bringing a movie.

I don't make my man watch any sappy/romantic movies with me...mainly because there are movies he likes that I'd rather not watch either. I don't want to make him sit through something he won't enjoy or get anything out of. We only tend to watch movies that make us laugh together. I myself have actually backed away from the lovey dovey movies, I just prefer comedy ALTHOUGH The Notebook was so beautiful!

OK, I think some of you guys may have gotten the wrong idea here. It's my fault, I didn't give clear enough information. :bang2:

I'm not really interested in knowing what movies will get me 'laid', I don't need a movie for that. We'll let some desperate single guy start a thread for that. What I'm interested to know is what romantic movies do you guys enjoy? Something you would watch by yourself if "The Dirty Dozen" were not available. :gun:

By the way Mac, classifying "Gone In 60 Seconds" as a romance movie is a bit thin don't you think? There are a few scenes (very few) with Nicolas Cage & Angelina Jolie, the most romance in that film was between Raines and the Mustang!

A Walk in the Clouds is a very good movie. The father gave Keanu Reeves hell until the end. Another good film is Sleepless in Seattle and the other Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan movie where he owns the bookstore chain and she owns the corner bookstore that he indirectly puts out of business.

Happy Labor Day to all. It's Bar B-Q time!!:D
